There has been a lot of speculation here about Cathy Orosz being gone from Channel 8 by the end of the year. Does anyone have any updated information?

All that I’ve heard is that her contract expires in January 2006 and that Orosz was not happy with being removed as host of “Wake Up Rochester”; mostly because of a pay cut she had to take. 8 reportedly has been taking a lot of flack from viewers over the change of hosts.

What is interesting is that over the past month Orosz has been anchoring most of Channel 8’s noon newscasts; a duty that used to fall to the host of 8’s morning show.

One theory is that Channel 8‘s management is trying to toss Orosz a bone by letting her anchor noon with the hope she stays at WROC, thus avoiding more bad publicity that 8 is a revolving door when it comes to on-air personalities.

Since you appear to have inside information does this mean that 8 made her an offer to stay by renewing her contract. Or is she staying because she hasn't landed another job yet?

She does not have another job and wants to stay for now.
