CATV Search Antenna

Which one are you talking about?
I have one of those huge Lindsay Test/Search antennas, here at work......
It cost about $300, plus another $100 for shipping (it came in a wooden crate). It's a large, heavy-duty Log-Periodic for all VHF and UHF channels, and it even came with calibration charts.

Lindsay sold out to Wade a few years ago. Wade shows a J-283X on their site....I seem to remember that as a Taco-Jerrold. I know of a house a couple of blocks from me that has had one for decades (I should stop by and introduce myself one day0:

Haven't used one for DX'ing yet, but I used the big one for testing TV Translator reception for a while. My VHF DX is done with a ZIP-5V and a pro Blonder-Tongue preamp.

I wasn't as much specifics of equipment but the concept. A high gain receive antenna at height would provide lots of DX entertainment.

When I was in college the dorm did not provide cable TV. Fortunately I was on the ground floor less than 60 feet from a subscriber across the street who had lousy wiring. A deep fringe TV antenna hung from the ceiling, and I had cable TV for free!
