Out camping on Tims Ford Lake at the state park, in Winchester TN yesterday, with my old 2005ish sony boombox (not that great of a tuner in it either but generally doesn't get bleed from across the dial so i'm pretty sure it wasn't that) out listing to WBUZ 102-9 the buzz out of Nashville, reception of it had been pretty solid all weekend, being that it's a little better than fringe signal up there, than it is down here below the AL line. However at one point during the day, it quickly faded out, I chalked it up to being the usual interference from the 102.9 translator in Huntsville, but it then quickly shifted to a strong signal playing country music (the Huntsville translator is Hip Hop) an ID came up and it began to fade back to WBUZ, but before it was totally gone i caught "100,000 watts" and "the....[faded out]... counties... [faded out again].... country", then WBUZ completely took back over and it was gone for good before i could ID it. Looking on radio-locator the closest 100kw country station on 102.9 would be KHBZ Harrison AR, KEZS Cape Girardeau MO, or WMSI Jackson MS, but none of those seem to match up with the "counties" bit I heard. No idea what it was but it had to be a good distance away.
