CBC Also Facing Olympic Ratings Blues

The problems that NBC has been facing with disapointingly-low prime-time Olympic ratings aren't confined to the United States.

Articles in the Toronto Globe and Mail and the Toronto Sun via Canoe.ca report that CBC's prime-time Olympic coverage isn't doing much better. The same shows that have done a number in prime-time on NBC's numbers from Turin/Torino ("Dancing With The Stars", "Survivor", and especially "American Idol 5") have also outpulled CBC's prime-time coverage.

It should be noted that due to the time difference, CBC is broadcasting a lot of live coverage during the daytime hours (CBC has far more hours of over-the-air Olympic coverage than NBC), and showing repeats of it during prime-time. The Globe and Mail article noted that CBC has actually drawn more viewers for the live daytime coverage than for the prime-time replays.

If you added together the average number of viewers for CBC's daytime and prime-time coverage, as quoted by the Globe and Mail, you get a large number of viewers. This is the angle the CBC will "spin".
