CBC turns 75 this week

Actually, the CBC Radio One simulcast of AM 690 is on AM 90.5 from Victoria (a tight squeeze to listen to in the North suburbs), or on 88.1 when you get north of Everett. Radio Two, the "music" service, is on 92.1 (Victoria/Salt Spring Island tx) and 105.7 (Vancouver).

Last Sunday's "Sunday Morning" had some interesting people brought back in a "live" broadcast with an audience, who reminded listeners, and the new crop of "kids" on air and running the CBC today, of the political battles the network had to face in past years, with a reminder that this next generation have to engage in those same battles all over again to retain the indepdendence of public broadcasting. With all of the veteran hosts on Radio 1 and 2 replaced in the past couple of years by younger ones, it will be interesting to see how that transpires.

Now that CHEK-TV has gone digital only (RF Ch. 49) and thus vacated their analog aural 87.75 MHz signal, CBU-2-FM 88.1 Vancouver will up it's power to 97,600 watts. Depending if KLOP goes through with their CP, you should be able to get Radio One in the north Seattle suburbs.......

OK. So when I put my information out there, I just decided I'd mention a frequency for Radio One and one for "Radio 2" (their preferred spelling, not necessarily mine). Radio One Victoria (90.5) is not a 100% simulcast, but instead has its own local morning and afternoon content geared toward Vancouver Island.

I have not had as much luck with 105.7 (Radio 2 - Vancouver), other than some pockets near Lynnwood when driving south on I-5.
