CBK 540 heard in Michigan

Last night around 10:00, I was doing some AM DX. I had my car radio tuned to 540 where I usually hear nothing but slop and an occasional weak signal.

While listening to 540 last night I heard a poor but listenable signal. It ended up being a CBC station, complete with the CBC news music. This was followed by mentions of Saskatchewan. I knew this couldn't be 540 from Windsor, as they are a French station.

I came inside and looked online for any CBC stations on 540 and I saw two of them. One in Saskatchewan and another in Grand Falls, Newfoundland. The most likely one would have been CBK from Watrous, SK as Grand Falls' 540 is much weaker and considerably farther away than CBK's 50kw signal.

At 1172 miles, CBK is my new United States/Canadian AM distance record, beating the old distance record set with WAQI Miami by almost 40 miles. <P ID="signature">______________

CBK enjoys some great ground conductivity, along with having that wonderfully power-efficient 540 kHz assignment. I've picked them up many times near Chicago, even since WWRD Jackson/Milwaukee increased nighttime power.

Indeed! CBK is such a monsterous AM signal that Radio-Locator only projects their signal out to the distant ring (the purple one) in most areas on the coverage map.

A little off-topic here, but is it just me or does radio-locator really need to detail the Canadian maps as much as the American maps? It'd help a lot for me in terms of determining the coverage-to-population ratio.
