boy this cbs2 could take a lesson from cbs3...there was a news operation that was oblivious, but a rededication to hard news and the hiring of experienced anchors and weather people have brought them back to respectability, almost unseating the powerhouse action news, at least for one night in sweeps, a couple years back.

WCBS would be better if they focused on hard news, since they seem to lack focus.
Today at 5 while 4, 5, and 7 lead with the line of duty death of a New Jersey fireman, 2 spent five minutes on the Yankee home opener, using Wragge, a reporter and John Bolaris.<P ID="signature">______________

Come ot think of it, aren't all the commercial stations in the metro area owned by the same entity that owns at least a good stake in the network they run? I'm pretty sure Tribune still has a stake in The CW.

Here's what I think should happen:1. Try to focus on harder news at 6 and 11 without being too tabloid.2. Stop relying so hard on hiring people from the rival stations because chances are they might not fit the image of the newscasts.3. Get a news director that knows what he/she is doing.Personally, I think they ought to bring Cindy Hsu back to the noon news, keep Dana Tyler on at 5 and 11, fire Chris Wragge, demote John Bolaris and Jim Rosenfield to 5, and rehire Rolland Smith, Michele Marsh, Ira Joe Fisher, and Warner Wolf among others that made WCBS more respectable back in the day.

Rolland Smith, Michele Marsh, Ira Joe Fisher, and Warner Wolf - now they were serious players. Whatever happened to them?
Rolland Smith is doing weekends on WWOR.Michele Marsh is not on air anywhere.Ira Joe Fisher is doing the weekend Early Show on CBS.Warner Wolf is on WABC-AM and WEPN-AM.

Michelle Marsh was let go from a long term contract at WNBC-4. As far as I know she is still being paid by them and can not get a gig in the NYC market until that contract expires. She would be an asset to any station who hires her.

Wow, didn't know that. I remember when she left WNBC, but I had the impression it was her decision to leave at the end of her contract, not that anyone's going to announce they were fired, of course. Thanks for the info!
