Thanks for sharing these, 1moore.

Boy, it'll be interesting to see if the comedy audience on Mondays will follow over to Thursdays.

For those wondering what the show scheduled after "The Big Bang Theory" is on Thursday nights, it's based on the Twitter account of a person who tweets - well, things his dad says. Makes the Geico "Cavemen" sitcom look like a brilliant idea.

No Accidentally on Purpose? Thank God!!

That show was painful to watch (and I actually like Jenna Elfman).
They just stomped all over every intimate taboo in the clumsiest way
imaginable. It was like a weekly dinner invitation from a bickering
married couple who always start fighting about their sex life right in
front of you. Too raw! Too much! I just can't watch anymore!

Is The Defenders a remake of the old 60's series with E.G. Marshall? Hard to imagine how they could top that one.

It's interesting that CBS spent years and years trying to build a beach head on Wednesday nights for their comedy blocks. Going back as far as the Nanny. Or probably even farther back. I know King Of Queens when it moved to Wednesdays was probably the most successful.

Now it seems CBS has given up trying to establish a new comedy block on Wednesday and is shooting to take on NBC's Thursday nights.

Kind of like when FOX moved the Simpsons to Thursdays to compete against Cosby

I will watch BBT on Thursdays

CBS with Big Bang Theory is setting up to blast a huge strike across NBC's bow for Thursday. Community should be very worried because like it or not BBT is a monster hit. Sh-t My Dad Says will probably be a flop. While the Twitter account is hilarious and irreverent, the writing of this show would have to be stellar to capture and retain audience once the novelty of the gimmick wears thin. I just don't see that happening.

CBS has come and gone with Wednesday comedies, unlike Mondays which have been steady since Adam and Eve watched the original version of the Big Bang Theory. Thursday is a huge night in the ad world, and NBC is about as weak in that slot as they've been in a long time, so taking a shot is a good gamble.

At least they're shaking things up a bit (or a lot, when all of the moves are taken into consideration), and see if they can lay a foundation for the future. CSI is on the downhill slope, so whatever goes there next (whenever that is) may benefit from a strong 8 pm hour (and Survivor, while still doing well overall, is like CSI, past its highest point).

Mondays at 9/8 on CBS have included:

Lucy
Danny
--and that took us from fall '51-summer '64
Lucy
Ange
Mayberry
Lucy
M*A*S*H
Murphy
Raymond

...and others.

No, this one is a legal dramedy with Jim Belushi and Jerry O'Connell as Las Vegas defense attorneys.

Well, having been over to numerous TV boards, it looks like "... My Father Says," "Mike & Molly," and "Hawaii Five-O" are the ones to keep a eye on. As for "Defenders," this could be a troublespot for CBS.

To put it bluntly, "Community" is no "Friends."

I wonder what the Parents Television Council thinks about CBS scheduling this show in the latter half of the 8 PM ET "family viewing hour"...

And I recall seeing the front page of the New York Post on the Saturday following the Thursday night that (per the headline) "Bart Beats The Cos".

Could there be another meteor in the bottle for CBS some twenty years later? Possibly... but remember that the Cosby/Simpsons situation and the one this fall with CBS' Thursday night lineup vis a vis NBC's is completely apples and oranges.

CBS fired the opening salvo in trying (and succeeding) in dethroning the NBC Thursday dynasty by moving "CSI" to the Thursday at 9pm slot in 2001.

At that point, NBC had lost "Seinfeld" but "Friends" was going strong and "Will & Grace" was a moderate hit. The combination of "Survivor" and "CSI" has permanently ended NBC's run as the Thursday juggernaut, even though they have occassional 18-49 victories on Thursdays.

Overall, I think moving "Big Bang Theory" to Thursdays is a keen strategy, as it is climbing in its number, both in total viewers and 18-49, in which it is the #1 sitcom. "Survivor" has peaked already, and "CSI" is on its way out. If "BBT" continues to hold strong, maybe we will look to see a CBS comedy Thursday to supplement comedy Mondays. Its the same bold thinking that help CBS to the #1 network spot early last decade.

I don't want to overstate this, but this could be the first nail in the NBC coffin...

Many people would argue there were many "nails" there first. But as we've seen how many times before now...it's cyclical. Time to move past the "it was once Must See TV night" stuff, as that's been irrelevant for a while.

NBC has been doing ok with the sort of cult-appeal shows they have for the time being, and while Big Bang may hurt them some, the audience for a more broad-appeal show like BBT is substantially different from the quirky Community/30 Rock type shows. Yes, there's an opening there for CBS now to do something different, but that one slot isn't going to be what does or doesn't bring about the end times for the peacock.

The audience for Big Bang Theory is probably the best audience willing to give S--- My Dad Says a chance, so I'm not surprised CBS is pairing the two.

I certainly wouldn't count the new show out. You know how Facebook 'nation' got Betty White a hosting gig on SNL? I'd say William Shatner has enjoyed the same kind of pop culture popularity for years, and from folks who may not have ever seen anything related to Star Trek.

Who gives a Sh_t what they think.

Actually, they (The PTC), the religious groups and the affiliates would. One can see the headlines now...

From The Columbus Dispatch: "WBNS passes on Shatner Comedy because of its title"
From The Salt Lake Tribune: "KUTV pressured to drop CBS sitcom because of its title"
From The Clairion-Ledger: "Parents, church groups want WJTV to drop CBS show over title"

But they're only examples. Only time will tell if a KOLR, WCBI, KFVS, or a KHSL will end up dealing with a scenario like this.

Funny as it may sound initially in an on-demand, DVR era, there's still something to be said for the power of a good lead-in (cough...Rules of Engagement....cough). If they're roughly compatible shows, it may indeed work for CBS.

I was going to give the new Hawaii Five-O a try, but I just discovered that it'll be on opposite Castle. I guess I'll have to watch it online.

And if they're not careful, "Facebook nation" could end up getting Captain Kirk a gig performing at the Super Bowl halftime show...
