Midseason/Backups
TRAINING DAY (based on the film, set 15 years later)
DOUBT (Katherine Heigl heads the legal drama, with Laverne Cox expected to make history as the first transgendered person to star in a network TV series)

"Man with the Plan" should be paired with "The Odd Couple". "Friends" fans (I am not one) would have a reason to watch both shows.

Then again, the 2 Broke Girls are sort of an odd couple themselves.

I like that Kevin James is coming back to TV and the rebooted MacGyver looks interesting.

Friday will remain my CBS day, but I might start watching Monday as well.

I'm glad CBS is going to having sitcoms on Monday nights from 8 to 10 PM ET. That was always my main night for prime time network TV, along with Thursday nights on NBC until sitcoms were cut back there.

I saw the previews for the new CBS shows. "Kevin Can Wait" and "Man With The Plan" does show promise as does the "MacGyver" reboot, the latter fitting in with the Friday Night lineup. However I wish they gave "The Great Indoors" a better time slot where it could do better. On the other hand the Sunday schedule is a hit and miss with a weak lineup.

Yeah - what's with that? NCIS LA in the old Good Wife slot? <Yawn> Since that's a prestigious time slot with one of the week's highest potential viewer bases, I was expecting them to put in a drama with a better pedigree - or perhaps something new and a bit daring, like A Good Wife was in its first year. Instead, they slot in a typical and mundane police procedural.

I guess I'll be watching HBO exclusively on Sunday nights.

A "MacGyver" reboot should be paired with "Scorpion".

I think they put shows they want to kill off on Sunday nights. Interference from football overruns plays havoc with start times, and destroys ratings - especially for unsuspecting people who set up a DVR based on the scheduled start time.

Have you ever seen the Nielsen ratings for Sundays? CBS is putting shows on that night that can survive anything.

What do they do with shows they want to kill off? They kill them off. (Almost) Nobody in any business roots for or tries achieve failure. They may invest less on a given night, that's not trying to kill something. You still want to make a good buck.

Last I heard, Sunday is the most watched night for television. Viewers have been out playing Friday and/or Saturday night, and want to relax and prepare for the week ahead. Some of CBS most acclaimed and popular shows are and were on Sunday night - 60 Minutes, Murder She Wrote., The Good Wife. Even basic cable recognizes this, and puts the new episodes of their acclaimed series on Sunday nights - The Sopranos, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead...

The only thing that's odd to me is that CBS is not premiering a new show with promise in the Sunday 9:00 slot, but instead is parking the cookie-cutter procedural NCIS LA there.

I don't see the Criminal Minds spin-off Beyond Borders, was it cancelled?
