CBS 3, CW Philly 57 new studios: Your thoughts

Yesterday, KYW-TV 3 and WPSG-TV 57 started broadcasting from the new studios at 1555 Hamilton Street in Philadelphia and KYW-TV aired their first newscast from the new studios after the NCAA game last night. What are you thoughts on the new studios and new set for Eyewitness news?

I have not seen their new newsroom yet, but I will in a few minutes at 4:00. I thought that their HD picture quality was outstanding during the Phillies broadcast yesterday.

Not impressed with the set. It looks like they spent more money on the old set than this one. HD is super sharp though. I feel like I'm seeing Alicia Lane for the first time. Damn she looks good ;)

Looks good--no needless gadgets that don't add to the informaion being presented. Clean, elegant design.

I don't need anchors running laps around the studio just to stand in front of a half dozen different plasma screens just to show that they have them. Just give me a clear picture and focus on the content, not the trappings.

It looked nice to me. Everything was in HD right off the bat. Channel 6 went in stages. Chopper 6 was HD 1st, then the studio, then everything else. Channel 29 is still just HD in the studio. Alycia Lane looked great in HD very early this morning!!
Will they move the CW morning thing there too and in HD? They made mention that they have 2 HD control rooms there. I assume that they could do 2 live HD shows now at the same time, 1 on channel 3 and 1 on channel 57. Isn't the CW show run out of one of the traffic companies (metro or pulse) because of the lack of space or a 2nd control room @ 5th and Market by the bell?

Oh, and I forgot, the 150" HD monitor and the 2 100" HD monitors. I'd love to pull up a chair some Sunday afternoon and watch some HD football on that 150" screen.

Very impressive new state-of the-art broadcast facilities. This will be a challenge now for NBC10. I am aware that WNBC-TV HD 4 in New York is the baseline model for all the NBC O&O stations. As a result, NBC10's newsroom, control rooms, and studios should expect to be totally upgraded. Does anyone have any details on these modifications?

Eyewitness News in HD is simply amazing to watch. Set looks excellent, graphics are crisp, not overdone yet modern.

6's news set looks nice and modern, 3's is brand new and looks great, 29's is OK... channel 10 looks old and out-dated! The Earthwatch weather center changing from blue to red isn't going to cut it anymore.

I'm still watching in analog. The source is standard Comcast analog cable. I am dissapointed in the live analog, especially facial colors. They look "cartoonish" and saturated compared to the feed from 5th and Market. Like they have way too much orange make-up applied. It could be the d/a conversion, or Comcast, but I haven't changed a thing.

As for the News set, it looks small and somewhat cramped after that canyon of a studio they had in Old City. But at least the monitor screens don't have the CBS "Eye" looking back at you. The logos were so burned into those screens.

I assure you the new Studio A is huge. It's 1000+ square feet larger than the old Studio A at 5th & Market (which was more of a ravine than a canyon).

the old studio was way smaller then the current one...it looked "taller" but that was due in large part to the wide-angle lenses they used on the cameras.

I noticed that, too. The anchors on the HD side are very natural looking, yet orange-ish in analog for some reason.
