CBS 3 (KYW-TV/DT) LAYS OFF 11 EMPLOYEES

i am a true tom lamaine fan ... for a very very long time ... i hope he does not take the retirement incentive package , mentioned in the article .

If Alicya Lane wins her suit they will have to let go some more people.

I know, maybe they shouldn't have paid big bucks for Doug Kammerer. That there could've saved a job or 2. They already have a chief meteorologist in Kathy Orr anyway, and sofar it looks like they brought him on just so they could have tag team weather in the afternoon, which from my perspective ruins the flow the weather segments once had when it was only Orr.

Well, SOMEONE has to run the show in studio to transition to the inevitable bumps to "Orr at the Shore" coming in May.

I was bummed when I saw Doug on Sundays instead of Tom. Tom is a class act who is calm and soothing; he doesn't hype the weather like some others do when he knows nothing big is really going to happen...maybe that's not what they want these days. I remember his radio days and was impressed when he was one of the first non-pros to get his meteorologist certification, but he didn't get the top spot during all the comings and goings of other weather people which I thought was KYW's loss.

i think i might have had caught a glimpse on kyw tv 3 4 p.m. news today that dick standish had his last day today . i wonder if it is part of the "package" that certain high seniority newscasters got offered . i also wonder if tom la maine took it .

It's pretty obvious why they hired Doug. He's eye candy for the ladies. Look back to his first week on the air at KYW. One of his reports was on the Polar Bear club. There he was, shirtless in just a pair of swimming trunks, jumping into the ocean in the middle of February. What in the name of God does this have to do with Meteorology? Channel 10 would never have allowed something like that. As a matter of fact, it was stipulated in his contract that he couldn't expose any unneccessary real estate. He stated that right on the air. In his time at 10, doing backyard weather, he was never shirtless, in trunks, in anyone's backyard or pool.

it looks like my fears about tom lamaine going under this retirement incentive is coming into fruition , thursday may 22nd ...... :( :'( :-[

Kammerer could also be a replacement for Maria LaRosa when she goes out. Wonder if she'll be back? For what it's worth, I met Liz Keptner's husband. Man, did she marry badly! What a jerk.
