CBS 46 Hires New Weekday Male Anchor

I saw a blurb on newsblues.com front page about a Raleigh anchor coming to Atlanta but since I no longer subscribe I could no longer just read about it there. I tried to run google searches but I was sure 46 was involved. I knew Rich was let go a second time in his career for being white.

What will happen to Rich now? Has he been given any ofters from other TV stations?

He'll land on his feet somewhere else. He was good to work with, but brought on to CBS 46 during the Kevin O'Brian days... so he was doomed from the start.

On a side note: You know, Mark Harmon is the only on-air personallity on CBS 46 that has been with that station since back in the WGNX days... now he's a class act to work with!

I believe Helen Neil is also from the WGNX "Clear News" days. Dynamite reporter- the ONLY person I'd watch at 46. The rest are just awful.

WGNX was pre-Clear News. The call letters were changed to WGCL specifically to coincide with Clear News. Which by the way was the stupidest name for a station's newscast ever!

But yes, Helen Neill was around during the WGNX days.

Clear News was a sucessful brand for the station, but wasn't executed well on-air. To this day, CBS 46 is often referred to as "Clear News".

I believe Helen Neill started shortly before or after MEredith bought WGNX from Tribune in 1999. Laura Huckabee was also brought in around this time as well. Fred Powers and Mark Harmon are Tribune-era employees still on-air... as everyone else has left or were fired.

I do agree, Helen Neill is one of the better on-air personalities WGCL has.

CBS 46 News has hired Bill Gaines as its new weekday male anchor to replace Rich Noonan. Bill comes from WNCN in Raleigh and will co-anchor the 4:00 & 11:00 news with Stephany Fisher, and 6:00 news with Cynne' Simpson. Bill started today. Here's his CBS 46 bio:

I saw him anchor "CBS 46 News At Four" today (12/28/06) and he has a great voice! He'll do just great! Welcome to Atlanta, Mr. Bill!
