CBS 46 NEWS

Whats the problem at CBS 46 NEWS besides entirely too much blue? Why can't they keep any talent over there? Is Sheldon Fox the latest one to hit the door besides Rich Noonan? I see Sheldon was replace by Niki Fryerson who was most recently heard on former 97.1 JAMZ. They also have her doing the weather reports during the CBS Early Show local new breaks.

*Please get rid of all the blue in the set and logos. The black, red and white logo was better when they were called "Atlanta's News Channel." I sure the logo will change since they switch it up every 2 years.

Two words: Meredith Corporation. They don't know how to run a major market TV station.

They almost had something going with Clear News, but one of the Meredith VP's almost had a heart attack when he found out the station didn't cover hard news (shootings, bank robberies, police chases, etc.). Thus the last four years at WGCL. Then Kevin O'Brien showed up trying to exorcise blacks from all Meredith stations.

Four words to Meredith: Sell the damn station! If Rich Noonan sues for discrimination, you might as well turn the lights out because the party is over! (Kevin O'Brien defense mentioned in an earlier posting) WGCL will be cleaned out so badly (in terms of both money and personnel who will probably quit in droves) they will have to turn the license in to the FCC, because no one will buy the station, not even for 25 cents.

Get on the phone to CBS and several other companies and make them an offer for WGCL now, before it is too late.

Sheldon left on his own to take a job as a field reporter in New Orleans. He had nothing to do with Meredith. Naki has been doing a great job. I agree about the set. Needs a major overhaul!

Never really watched 46 (as a CBS station) until they did an excellent job a few months back covering the return of the 48th Brigate. Now I watch them almost every night and think they do a very good job. Stephany Fisher is top notch, and they are bringing in some pretty good reporters. Gene Norman gives a clear and accurate forecast, without all the sky is falling hype you get from some of the other guys. I am not a Gill Tyree fan, however, and think that if they want to create a lttle buzz in town, bring in Jeff Hullinger from WTSP in Tampa. The former WAGA sports anchor would be an excellent choice. Like him or not, if he came back to Atlanta, people would probably be intersted enough to watch.
I wish they would get Noonan's replacement in quickly to capatalize on the CBS Evening News upcoming new anchor, Katie Couric.

I agree Hullinger would add a little star power to CBS 46. I understand he is no longer on the air in Tampa, and looking at other opportunities.

It would make sense for 46 to go after Hullinger. Honestly, I don't watch them. They are bad. Outside of Helen Neill (and John Weatherbee, when he fills in), they are boring. I like 11 Alive the best
