CBS 5 NEWS Sean McLaughlin Anchor or Weather Man.

I wish CBS 5 NEWS would stick with Sean McLaughlin to doing weather only ,and for him to stop anchoring the news with Catherine Anaya. He is great at doing the weather segments for CBS 5 NEWS. What do you all think.

I agree that he should stick to weather but he obviously has the passion and desire to both anchor and weather. As was stated he was hired to do both anchor,reporter/weather. I think CBS 5 needs a whole new makeover. Kent Dana seems to just stumble over himself. Maybe its time to take a break or try something else.

I'm sure that Kent was very expensive, based on my understanding of his history (didn't live in Phoenix then). If so, CBS 5 will have to use him in a prominent position until the end of his contract. If it was a 5 year contract, there's still another year to go!

I do agree that CBS 5 needs a new newsteam. This one (whoever it is) is NOT working. They don't look like they're enjoying their jobs. It seems tense much of the time. I actually enjoyed the period when Diana and Catherine anchored together.

With all due respect to these people who are just trying to earn a living.....

They are nothing but talking heads! Just how much 'talent' does it take? And why is it apparently worth hundreds of thousands of dollars?

landtuna makes a good point. To a certain extent, I think that we are in the post-"voice of God" era of news. It was formally ushered out when Peter Jennings died. What we see in news (local or network) are "talking heads" for the most part.

I, for one, enjoy local news because I actually enjoy watching the newscast and the "talking heads". It's a form of entertainment for me. I love the weather segment, even though it does really matter here in the Valley.

Got that right! High-salaried TV news anchors are dinosaurs and are quickly dying off. The business has changed forever. And those junior anchors on the local news today, with a few exceptions, are just celebrity wannabees who sit there and read the news aloud and chatter on mindlessly. Why have them at all? I'm somewhat surprised that some station hasn't tried to create computer-generated characters to "anchor" the news.

Hence, ABC15 Morning News commercials advertising "Less Chit Chat...More News". :D

At least for the male crowd, they certainly have the am newscast that is "easiest on the eyes"

Well for sure, "More Peroxide...Fewer IQ Points" could be their slogan. Actually with the layoffs at 3TV I do see a Bimbo vacuum that ABC15 could easily fill. Maybe this will help them.

Speaking of ABC15 --
I wonder how the night crew is faring? With all the changes at the other stations I have to wonder about the future also of Irvin and Katie Raml (aka Suns' Slut, Barbosa Booty Back-up, or whatever other name she's going by these days on websites like The Dirty). Things have to be as bad as at other stations or worse at 15. Although they're probably paying Raml and Irvin peanuts compared to the top Phoenix TV anchors. Maybe in lieu of pay Raml is guaranteed free day and night access to the Suns' locker room by Craig Fouhy ;D!
(Is that how you spell that dude's name?)

Sorry, I have to interrupt this posting...

Did you know that low advertising revenue and Nielsen numbers can KILL!!!!!! Full story tonight at 10.
