CBS/ABC radio in Houston

Is there any way to get at least the top of the hour news from these networks on radio in Houston? There seems to be a news blackout here especially with CC.

I'm so glad someone mentioned this. I miss the news from them as well. Seems all we get is FOX news now in Houston. I long for the glory days of 740 KRTH when it was an actual NEWS station...

KLVI...which gets a really good signal over Houston (especially during the day) still carries ABC news at the top...or, at least, they did at last check. They're at 560 kHz, by the way.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anybody carrying NBC News...anywhere.

If, for some reason, you're intersted in CNN...I believe KXYZ (1320 kHz) carries it at the top (maybe at the bottom, too) during the Biz programming.

KLVI carries ABC news at the top of the hour early in the morning and late at night. The rest of the day they have Fox news at the top of the hour. Either way, its national news.

And doesn't CNN 650 carry CNN news at top & bottom and as a filler whenever
there's not other local/syndicated talk programming airing?

I thought NBC radio was no more.

NBC News Radio/ "NBC Radio"

NBC News Radio is a joint venture between WW1 and NBC. It offers 1 minute news updates at :50, with a repeat (or update if needed) on the hour. M-F from 6AM to
10PM ET. WW1 staffers write the updates from CBS HQ in DC and NBC, MSNBC or WW1 anchors do the newscast. NBC actualities are inserted in the newscasts.
Affiliates also get access to WW1 drivetime sports reports and a morning entertainment feed, plus access to MSNBC audio Bulk NBC newsfeeds. WW1 also syndicates Meet The Press and distributes CNBC Business Radio.
Separate from the above, WW1 has a license to use the "NBC Radio" brand and NBC news feeds through the end of next year. This was a part of the original sale by GE to WW1 of the NBC Radio Networks. WW1 is preparing to phase out the NBC Radio name on its own programing: "First Light" used to be called "First Light on NBC Radio." It is now billed "First Light from Westwood One," although host Dirk Van still closes the program with "This is NBC Radio." Van also uses NBC Newsfeeds on his "Week In Review." All to keep the license active.

What? You mean we no longer have a Mutual affiliate?

Ironically, WW1 still holds an active trademark on "Mutual Broadcasting System."
