CBS and Live 105 morning show can't work deal.

Live 105 morning show host Woody said as of now they will not take CBS deal. He also went on to say that today was the deadline from CBS.

Letting Woody and his boring, noncompelling show go sounds like a good move for CBS....can you say addition by subtraction.

Woody mentioned that he thought KITS would put the Adam Corella show on to replace. Anyone know anything about that? Thanks

I enjoy the Woody Show and am sad to see them go. for me, it was the perfect mix of talk and music. it may not be compelling like NPR or KGO but, it was fun and funny. not everyone wants serious radio. The Woody show crew seem like everyday people and were very likable. hope they don't replace them with Adam Carolla like Woody said.

That would sound about right. Since they put Corolla on other stations that Howard Stern vacated. And I'm sure they are just thrilled that he is on KYCY 1550AM. He definately needs an FM outlet here.

it's an old played out radio stunt...good try guys...

Wow Jedimind Rick, you created an account just to write that? Facinating.

*Fascinating

But anyways, remember a few months back Sarah on Alice did the same thing and she ended up staying. But there have been rumors Woody's been wanting to go to LA to play records.

Live should've put Corolla on right after Stern left instead of waiting this long and left the Dog House on Free-FM.

I agree.

Also, I do think Doghouse should have been left on Free FM in SF. However, CBS needed a powerhouse for their Free FM/New York/ WFNY. CBS was just waiting for something silly to happen so they could get rid of the Doghouse. Especially after the hit was put out on Free FMs alike. let say if Doghouse was broadcasting from NY to SF, that means they'd be on like 3-6 a.m. SF time, then Adam Corolla live. The time difference is one of the reasons Opie and Anthony are aired taped. But enough about the past.

I highly doubt Adam Corolla will take over the Live 105 airwaves. His numbers are not good. They do good in the LA market and possibly the Sacramento market. Other than that, CBS gave him a huge pay cut this year from about 3 million to $750,000.

They should put the Doghouse on Live 105. That way whitemenace can keep his job. It was whitemenace anyhow who brought stunts to the Woody show. I don't remember Woody, T-R doing any stunts before whitemenace's arrival.

I'm not surprised CBS and Woody can't work out a deal. The Woody Show has been complaining about the station managment all year long but yet have been bragging about how they're over paid by the company for their show. I wouldn't be surprised if CBS offered them less money then what they're making now and that's why a deal can't be worked out. Woody thinks his show is worth more but it's not. It's pretty much Sarah and No name with a little more ego and attitude and the only reason why it gets any kind of good rating is because there's nothing else out here in San Fransisco.

I wouldn't be surprised if Live 105 puts Adam Carolla on. The show has really improved over time, plus Live can still do the music/talk format they are doing with the Woody show right now. Just do what other stations do, when Adam goes to commerical, play a song, along with the commericals. And as for the "The Adam Corilla show can't get numbers." argument... wouldn't you agree it would be pretty hard to get a good number when your show gets moved to a AM station and no one knows about it? The only way I found out was because I was in the Sacrmento area and a listener from the Bay Area called and mentioned what station the show was on. I've also met a few people who used to listen to the show on Free FM but had no clue the show was moved to a AM station until they heard me listening to it.

Live 105 most likely won't go after the Doghouse...but could you imagine what kind of blow it would be to Woody if Live 105 was able to get the Doghouse? Espically after the Doghouse was able to plug themselves on Woody's show? Besides Woody shouldn't be to worried if he can't reach a deal with Live 105, I'm sure Woody thinks he can land a gig with Krock down in LA. I mean he's been kissing their a*s all year long.

well i dont have many details for you, but we do all remember sarah and no name puling the same crap, Howard stern pulled this at least 4 times .... i dont think they will leave, but you never know.
starting a new morning show is hard to do and it takes about 2 years for a morning show to actually make a noticeable difference. which Woody, Tony and Ravey have done. starting over would be a Bad move for us.
As far as Adam Corolla, its a possibilty, but he had a ton of marketing when he was on Free Fm, and still failed to even show up in a book.
I have also heard the big bosses want to keep a local show.
as far as the dog house... they interviewed for mornings at live but were beaten out by woody and the gang.
so i doubt that would even be an option.
anyways., thats all i can really say on this subject.

yep, I did create an acct just to say what I wanted to say. I like the WTR show.

I do think it would be a big mistake for Live 105 to let them go at this point. with all the changes to format and on-air personality going on with local (18-34) radio(kyld, kmel) - it'd be a bad move to scrap a growing audience that was 2 years in the making.

Anyone that has worked in radio for any time knows what this is about with the leaving/never coming back deal.

Even if they never return, there is nothing negative that can be said about their ratings while at 105.

And, before badmouthing Carolla, his numbers in his demo were WAY above anyone else at his station here. And he is showing a strong rating on a nonbook station.

Give him 18 months at Live 105 and he easily beats KNBR in the 18-34, 25-54 male demo.

It is silly to think that morning show content is relevant to actual contract consideration. Do you also imagine Kelsey Grammer is really a radio psychiatrist? CBS suits aren't basing their end of negotiations on what they hear Woody say about his salary on the show. Nor do personalities consider their own on-air chat about management appropriate to their negotiative posture.

Carolla didn't do well on 106.9 before relegated to am, even with a massive outdoor promotional campaign. SF has historically done badly with out of market shows, witness the on-fire (at the time) Mark and Brian attempting their LA show on the Rocker years ago...absolutely flat in SF, as is the position of the 3 AMs showcasing out-of-market talent.

In negotiations, the assumption is both sides need the other, and each will do his best to accomodate, while each party has expectations that exceed the other's. All benefit Woody brings to CBS is carefully considered. And vice versa. But if CBS has another show in mind they have carefully determined will benefit Live more, they will bring it. If Woody has a better career move in mind, he will go, without much thought given to his replacement.

Who can't beat KNBR?

KNBR's morning show is brutal. Nice guys...awful radio. I am surprised they have lasted this long.

In their demo, looking at the book, no one can.

Don't get fooled, just because it is awful radio, that they don't have good ratings.

And don't get fooled that because they seem nice that they are nice guys.

Carolla went up every single book, outpacing every other show on 106.9. He is getting some ratings on 1550 am. There is an audience there.

Seems to me WTR have been trapped... (yes, a subtle Star-Wars reference there...)

Follow this one down the rabbit hole....

WTR signed two years ago at KITS for a nice deal.
This year they thought they could "up" it.
They got turned down
and now they are TRAPPED.

It's a decent show and their audience matches them, but LIVE 105 isn't going to pay them any more money for simply holding steady. Plus they don't suck enough for Live 105 to let them go...
They Are Trapped

Don't think they would walk away without getting another deal...

Trapped? You bet. Woody has a Los Angeles option. The problem is, it's a CBS property, so he can't make too big a mess leaving Live 105 or he screws up his KROQ opportunity. CBS has him coming and going on this one.

And, the Corolla option is a good one for CBS locally. They're already paying for Corolla in this market, so it's just a flick of a switch and Live 105 has a new "free" morning show.

WTR either suck it up or Woody leaves them all behind and lands a big gig in LA.

Nice.

I am not intending to be a bitch but can someone tell me what the big deal is with WOody? San Francisco mornings with a L.A. gig on hold, seriously, what makes him so good? ???
