CBS Atlanta News at 5:00

I was just flipping through the channels and noticed that CBS Atlanta had news during the 5pm hour. The TV listings show that Ellen was scheduled as usual but she is not there. I don't know of a basketball game today so does anyone know what it up? Did 46 give up news at 4pm or did Ellen get transferred to a new time slot? I did not expect this.

46 had a technical meltdown at 4. By 5 they had straightened out most of the trouble but for the first few minutes they packages back to back without anchor segues.

How ironic. The station that is in the toilet can't keep their equipment operational...leading to a delayed newscast.

Does anyone have any idea on what ratings WGCL does get with their 4 PM news (none...you-know-who from Chicago on WSB-TV is #1).

Flipping channels Monday, I noticed that Ellen was running at 4 PM, but there was no ticker indicating trouble. I turned the channel immediately, so I don't know if there was one later on.

On the GCL website at 4 p, the link to watch the live stream of the 4 p news was active. Clicking on it, you could hear either newsroom or field chatter but there was no video. Later in the hour, an advisory was posted on the web stating that the 4 p news would be seen at 5. When the cast finally got underway at 5 p, there was no anchor for the first five minutes or so. That's why I referred to it as a "technical meltdown." Beyond that, I have no idea what happened but I do know it wasn't pretty.
