CBS Axe Does Land in Hartford

'TIC FM loses Dana to syndication on weeknights (Billy Bush). Glen Colligan gone from WRCH, replaced by Delilah. Happy Holidays everyone!

Can't say where I heard BUT...
TIC fm will NOT renew Craig when his deal is done.....They are already primimng Damon and Jenine for wake up duty!

Syndication on RCH and TIC-FM, voicetracking on DRC-FM ... where will it all end? And, when the economy does bounce back, will management take those bird-fed or VT'ed shifts live and local again or just maximize profits by maintaining status quo?

I think you've just answered your question. :( It's all in the beancounting.

Um syndication on RCH is nothing new. They've been carrying Delilah for years. Until this week she was on 7 nights a week Midnight-5AM. Now She's on Midnight-5 Tuesday-Friday and 7PM-Midnight Saturdays and Sundays. Overnights on Saturdays and Sundays are now automated. Syndication on TIC-FM is nothing new either. Several years ago TIC-FM was carrying "LoveLines" from Westwood One. Plus they carry syndicated programming on the weekends.

I have considered Damon Scott the best On Air Tallent in Connecticut for a long long time. Hes one of the few guys where you would rather hear what he has to say next then hear the music hes playing.

I am saddened to hear Glen Colegin and Pillow Talk were gone. Wonder if he is still doing the Sunday Morning Tag Sale on WTIC?

Maybe I just don't get it but I Have NEVER found Damon to be interesting ot tallented.
To me he seems hokey and silly...I can't stand his (try to be a big boy) production voice and find his ramblings to be small market sounding and immature.
PLEASE know I'm not slamming him as a person or a marketing machine (I hear his production EVERYWHERE)
But, as far as on air goes I doubt he could have any success in another market outside of CT.
Could somebody (in a nice way) explain what it is that makes him get praise on this board???
Thanks

Caliv -

The silliness seems to work for me. Like Scottg said earlier in this thread, I listen more to hear what he is gonna do or say next rather than the music. He obviously does all of the production himself, which helps in the overall delivery. I even heard him at the gas station today while I was filling up, on the "Gas Station Radio Network", or whatever it's called.... lol

Just one man's opinion...

If it's true....then goodbye to Gary Craig. He reminds me of the WB frog: "Hello my baby, hello my honey. Hello my ragtime gallll." Out of touch with the actual listener and has been for years. It was nice when he was gone and they had Kelly & Kline.

Kelly & Kline? Weren't they on New York's 105.1 The Buzz for ten seconds?

Kelly and Kline....they had some funny moments....I remember them calling the company that makes M & M's to report that there was a problem...they had all W's.
I do believe that Kooky morning zoo type of radio is over...but, then again so is the "I wanna be a big band singer" thing that Gary does.
Is he still in the coupon bug commercials dressed as a lady bug....How sad that he was THAT DESPERATE to get on TV that he was willing to dress up as a LADY BUG!!!!
A=-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
BTW/ Is it just me or does it drive you CRAZY when Christina Lee does that OBVIOUS fake laugh when Gary says some lame old man line.
She is a GREAT example of why women in radio don't get much respect...That's sad because there are some tallented women in the biz yet we mostly hear that kind of loser female role.

I do remember when Gary & sidekick/newsman John Elliott did AM Drive during their 1st stint on TIC-FM (after 96TICS) & before Gary went to Kiss.

It was when Imus was still on 66WNBC, as well as Howard on 66 & K-Rock.

It is true that Gary stole some of Howies' contests, etc. (but what jock didn't), but the dynamic duo of Craig & Company in those early days was hard to beat.

They were like the MusicRadio77WABC of Hartford in those days.
