At last the philistines at CBS Boston and WBZ -TV 4 will no longer be able to destroy further the Boston Pops 4th of July Concert on the Esplanade.
For the past number of years CBS has been able to 'dictate ' the so-called "talent" Keith Lockhart could have at the concert. The so-called talent were all ' has-been's ' or 'never were' failures that most people never heard of but they supposedly appealed to a young demographic. The fact that these failures couldn't hold a note in the proverbial suitcase did not make a difference to these philistine television executives at CBS. They were young and that was all that mattered. The fact that their questionable talent was inappropriate to a patriotic 4th of July Concert did not matter. Beyond that this concert never attracted a younger television demographic. It is what it is.
All this proves again that most if not all radio and television executives were just 'time salesmen' who could sell Budweiser of Bufferin but hadn't had a clue and did not want to learn how to program a patriotic 4th of July Concert.
CBS- Boston - WBZ - TV 4 don't let the door hit you on the way out to oblivion.
Thank you Bloomberg TV and Eaton Vance for saving the Boston Pops 4th of July Esplande concert. At last we will be able to hear the entire 1812 Overture and not have it cut to shreds with commercials or worse cut entirely to play more commercials.
