cbs brings another fresh to ... dc

CBS has announced that they are flipping Classic Rock WTBG 94.7 in Wash DC to 94.7 FRESH FM. Has CBS by any chance bought any FRESH domains that may affect th Bay Area? They seem to be changing at least one station in each of their markets. One at a time, not an across the board like they did with FREE FM.

Someone posted some threads in the Dallas BB's about this as well. But seems that people are buying domains blindly to potentially later sell to CBS. No "Fresh" in D/FW yet, they did flip Movin' format to "MEGA" recently, but that's tejano, and that is in Dallas where the top rated station is Univision affiliate KLNO.

If I remember correctly, Entercom (KOIT) purchased the rights to use the "Fresh" lingo last year. They probably did it as a blocking move, so to speak. They only use the word converationally, as in "..that was fresh light rock from Coldplay..." I doubt they have any plans to change branding.

But I assume that would prevent CBS or anybody else from branding a station "Fresh" in this market.

Movin' in Los Angeles is has gone to a Spanish format, In Las Vegas Fresh 102.7 is "NOW 102.7. Could it be that Movin' 99.7 will switch to either "NOW" or "AMP" and make it a TRUE TOP 40.

Seeing how CBS seems to be making weekly changes in its larger markets, wonder if 99.7 will get a new format soon. KMVN in LA is going away finally.

MOViN (KMVN) in Los Angeles is owned by Emmis, not CBS - and has nothing to do with MOViN 99.7 except for the same branding, and a similar original format. This is like comparing 98.1 Kiss-FM with 102.7 KIIS-FM - and at least those two stations have the same corporate owner.

This AMP/NOW stuff has been discussed a lot here - the format of 99.7 has evolved to basically a CHR format. If CBS was going to change the branding, my guess is they would have done it already, with the changes in play list, and at the same time they hired St. John and had him to all the imaging work.

I concur. As I've justed posted in another post Movin 99.7 is playing the Rejects, Kelly Clarkson, and Pink in all dayparts while the latest from 3Oh!3 and Miley Cyrus are being played in overnights.
