WBBM the CBS O&O in Chicago is testing doing their newscasts from another place just in case they face the same issues as the New York CBS News offices

While all news media are practicing social distancing and adapting to working outside the office, WBBM-Channel 2 went a step further Tuesday. The CBS-owned station originated its entire 5 p.m. newscast away from its Loop newsroom, studio and control room.

“We are doing this as a test in [the] event we would not have access to our building due to COVID-19 or some other problem,” tweeted John Dodge, digital director and executive producer at CBS 2.

Just outside the station’s office and studio complex at Dearborn and Washington, news anchor Brad Edwards stood alone with a note pad on a music stand, as four CBS 2 news trucks parked nearby functioned as a makeshift production center, control room and satellite uplink.

“We are outside today as a practice — a dry run if you will,” Edwards told viewers at the top of the al fresco newscast. “If COVID-19 necessitates that we evacuate the premise and take the show on the road, that’s what we’re practicing today. The most important thing is that we continue to serve as a conduit for critical information to you.”

Now CBS is Reporting that Anthony Mason will do CBS This Morning from home due to a family emergency

The host, who joined Wednesday's edition of the show from his Manhattan apartment, said he was "self-quarantining" after a family member displayed one of the possible coronavirus symptoms, a loss of taste and smell.
CBS This Morning co-anchor Anthony Mason is the latest TV personality to work from home after possible exposure to the novel coronavirus.

The longtime CBS News journalist, who joined Wednesday's edition of the show via video from his New York City home, said he was "self-quarantining" after he had contact with a family member who displayed one of the latest, possible coronavirus symptoms, a loss of taste and smell, but has not yet tested positive for the virus.

In my view, Showtime is a poorly merchandised brand. Then again, MTV is a poorly merchandised brand. They have real problems there.

Totally agree. HBO pulled way ahead of Showtime as a movie and special subscription channel years ago. Other than a couple unique shows, like Homeland (which this is the final season), there's zero incentive to subscribe to Showtime.

I'm in the same place with a lot of these subscription movie channels. I once watched Starz. Not any more. Content development is very important, and Viacom has distinguished itself lately at being terrible at it. One incentive for combining Viacom with CBS was that CBS had a great program development team. Not sure how that's doing without Les Moonves. But they had a running start.

ViacomCBS is considering cost-cutting as a way to deal with COVID-19:

Meanwhile a financial analyst has suggested selling Showtime and Paramount.

True and also VH1 is a poorly merchandised brand too along with MTV given that these venues were from an era before the labels decided to have streaming deals with YouTube and various radio apps like Iheart, Spotify and Radio.com

Yes MTV and VH1 were meant for GenX and Gen Y demos from two decades ago for music but that's no longer the case.

They are showing 3 classic games tomorrow, not sure why they didn't do that today.

CBS Sports Network is running some. They're airing Duke vs Kentucky from 1992 right now.

Looks like CBS gave the whole day to the locals. Nothing but informercials all day.

How much of this is CBS trying to give way to CBS O&O's or contract CBS affiliates to get leeway just in case the locals have to deal with the Governors or Mayors Press Conferences over various updates with the outbreak in their areas.

The bad news with the old stuff is the video isn't great quality. There's a lot of it today on the various cable channels. I tried watching some of the old hockey, tennis, and baseball from the 90s, and it's just hard to watch on a flat screen TV.

I'd rather watch good classic matchups. There are plenty of sporting events from the 70's that I have only heard of. Im sure they still have the footage.

ESPN is going to run old MNF football games from the past 10 years. I would love to see the classic games.

Not bothering me in the slightest. If we're going to have to do without sports for the next few months, at least we can watch the classic games, no matter how old or grainy they are. Even if they're ancient kinescopes from the 1950s or films from the '30s, that's fine with me. :D

KOTV Tulsa offices has been closed due to one of their staff members being tested positive for COVID-19.

The Tulsa Newscast had to be moved OKC for precautions.

News on 6 will begin broadcasting from Tulsa again on Sunday night.

The News on 6 building was closed for cleaning Saturday evening after a News on 6 employee tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Employees will be able to re-enter the building and resume broadcasts beginning at 5:30 Sunday.

Broadcasts were temporarily simulcast statewide out of the News 9 studio in Oklahoma City on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The employee is doing well now.

Agreed. I don't care if it's a 1988 NFL game in SLP VHS quality. If ESPN wants to run it, fine.
And maybe they can run some classic commercials during the breaks, but there may be some rights issues. Classic Bud Light, Pontiac, and Campbell's Chunky Soup ads? I'd like that...
