CBS Called Out For Using "Hate" To Promote This Weekend Jets/Patriots Game

New York Daily News sports media columnist Bob Raissman claims CBS is using bad judgment in promoting the upcoming playoff game between two NFL rivals, the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, not just because the "hate" between the two teams is, for the most part, "bogus," but it was especially "bad timing" in the tone of the promotion in the wake of the Tucson shootings.

Is it any different when I say I hate, loathe, despise and deplore anything that is Patriots? OK, one fan's opinion won't matter, but a network should be impartial.

(GO JETS...by default!)

What a crock!

There is NO comparison between the match-up and the events in Tucson (and I don't like either team).

Lighten up, Francis...er, Raissman.

I suppose now all TV/radio ads for upcoming gun shows must be pulled.

And we can't make fun of Loughner, whom I'm sure newsrooms all over the
country--with their usual gallows humor--have nicknamed "Uncle Fester."

And we have to stop listening to El Rushbo unless he becomes "nice," or someone
will insist the Fairness Doctrine be reinstated...oh wait, I think some libs in Congress
are already making noise about that.

I never said there was a comparison between the two events (if that were the case, I don't think Bob Raissman would be the first mediaite to jump on top of it). But given the events of the previous 24 hours when CBS ran the promo, when I read the phrase "the timing was awful," I'm not sure what other event would be referenced here.

And we have to stop listening to (or airing) "Get Back" because Sir Paul mentions Tuscon. ::)

That would be like classic rock stations in Providence temporarily banned the song "White Room" because it made references to "the station"... "The Station" was the name of that nightclub in Rhode Island where Great White held a tragic concert/pyrotechnics show.

We are raising a nation of pansy assed losers. I forsee the reason the USA losing it's position as most powerful nation in the world because her people will be afraid of 'offending' some other nation.

In the words of Ken Titus, "Quit being a wussy"!

I wonder if McCartney will have to re-lyric the line "Jo Jo left his home in Tucson Arizona,
for some California grass"?

But I guess it's OK as long as it's "medical" marijuana. ;D

Re: CBS Called Out For Using "Hate" To Promote This Weekend Jets/Patriots Game

Don't forget, there's a line in that very song that goes, "Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman/But she was another man." Watch out, this one might get banned by the CBSC, right next to "Money For Nothing!"
