CBS Cancels 'Mike & Molly,' Says Co-Star

It looks like Mike and Molly are about to say goodbye, at least according to one of the show’s co-stars.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Rondi Reed announced that CBS is canceling “Mike & Molly,” which stars Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy.

“Before you hear it elsewhere (and some already have) this is the Final and 6th Season of ‘MIKE & MOLLY’ on CBS,” wrote Reed, who plays Peggy on the show.

I'm sure the reason has less to do with how the show is performing, than scheduling issues for Melissa McCarthy whose movie career is taking off. That show had a pretty good run for its premise, which was a bit unconventional to say the least.

The first 3 seasons of the show were pretty good. The 4th and 5th seasons not so much. This whole Molly quitting teaching to become a writer in the first episode of Season 4 seemed to come out of left field. I enjoy watching the reruns of this show on my local CW station and on FX, but if the reruns are from Season 4 or 5 I'm less likely to watch them. And of course if I'm not working on a Wednesday Night I will watch the final season. The ratings will be in the toilet for the final season too - right up the final season of "Idol".
