The cast of "yes dear" and the network admit that the show had been canceled three times already, but was brought back because costs were lower than other shows, and syndication ratings were pretty good over at TBS. In its first two years, this show was one of the worst ever...but over time it got a little more realistic, and the writing improved.
As for "Still Standing", most people who don't like it are single, divorced or have never been married with kids. Trust me. Theres a lot in that show that happens in families here in the states. I thought it was funny. Moving it from mondays was its death knell....
The next to go will be Two and a half men after next season if they don't get away from the flatulence jokes, and harder edged humor which has permiated this season. It would appear the writers and producers headed this way because they've run out of ideas. At first it was very cute, funny and managed to mix adult humor with the presence of a kid....who, as likeable as he can be, is being fed a steady diet of bitter dialogue.....
Last year it was flat out funny. this year...like Raymonds fifth season, is turning out to be often cruel and painfully unfunny.
As much as I think Henry Winkler is a nice guy, and good behind the scenes of shows (I submit the "April Fools 2005" edition of Hollywood Squares as one of the single funniest things he ever cooked up as an example), as a 50 plus comic actor, hes not coming across on "Practice". The mere fact I can see Stockard Channing, conservatively dressed or not, keeps me watching. The actor who plays the youngest son is from the UPN pulled-too-soon "Jake 2.0" and NBCs neat, but also pulled too soon "Medical Investigation"
