CBS CHIEF WANTS CHARLIE SHEEN BACK

from tvbythenumbers.com

Radar Online reports that CBS chief Les Moonves wants to lure Charlie Sheen back to Two and a Half Men. The story says Moonves is in discussions with Warner Bros and ‘Men’ producer Chuck Lorre to figure out how to mend fences and come up with a solution to bring Sheen back.
“Moonves told Chuck Lorre that he should ‘let us handle Charlie’,” the story’s source says.

“Moonves wants to get the show back on the air. He’s all for it,” the insider adds. “He says certain people need to forget anything and everything Charlie’s done recently and just move on with the business at hand.

If true, it’s hardly surprising given the success of Two and a Half Men and I’d be surprised if Warner Bros wasn’t interested in that outcome, too. But with the egos involved, convincing Lorre, who took the brunt of Sheen’s vitriol, to forgive and forget could be a challenge. The story’s source says that if they can just get Sheen and Lorre speaking again, that “cooler heads will prevail.”

The story notes that it’s uncertain how far along Moonves is, or how interested Sheen would be in returning even if he is offered the job back.

C(BS), might want to take a breath before getting involved with Sheen again. Unless there is a backstage method to his madness (breaking his contract for some reason) his antics will cost his new employer dearly but worse, may not bring in the audience they expect either. Charlie is not the most talented person on TV and especially on 2 1/2. What he might bring to a new venture is anyone's guess but I'm pretty sure it won't exceed 2 1/2 and viewers will tire of him very quickly.

i saw on the morning news today FOX is in talks with charlie sheen for a program.

i wish charlie sucess but he really has to clean up before he can function at his best.when he shows he knew where he messed up and takes steps to fix things in a real way to recover i am all for him getting shows.problem is his ego is too big for him to do that.a comeback after his crazy ranting behavior so soon probally will let him believe his lifestyle was not so bad.and then another spiral downword effecting charlie and the people around him, professional life , family life and private life , is inevidible.

as far as 2 and a half men i think they should have another actor come in and play a diffrent charactor then sheen`s.the show could go on and sheen may realize his levil of importance isn`t as high as he thinks.a reality check may help him get down to earth in his thinking.

Agreed that Charlie Sheen is not the most talented actor, but for better or for worse, he IS Charlie Harper. The show will not survive without him. Despite his recent meltdown, nobody has charged that he's been unprofessional during production of the show. If Moonves can mend fences between Lorre and Sheen, they can get another 2 seasons out of the show, and Sheen can make many more millions, and get set for life. I would think that would give him incentive to shut the f__k up.

I am saying the following as a long-time viewer of 2 1/2.

I think it is entirely possible the show can succeed without Sheen. It depends on how the writers handle the transition and, of course, how they "replace" Charlie. Given the quality of the season 8 episodes it might even improve its life span. The old themes are....well, old. A new character would introduce the opportunity for new themes and perhaps other new characters as well.

That Charlie hasn't been "unprofessional" on the set is a tribute to him but it is only important to WB and perhaps C(BS). It doesn't affect the home viewer at all. Most viewers will continue to associate Sheen's bad behavior with his character and that will further reduce his popularity. The real consideration though is whether Sheen can obtain insurance for the producers of any future activity in which he participates. If not, his TV on-screen career is over, at least on sitcoms, and he will likely become yet another LiLo/Brittney curiosity on the night club circuit.

What took Moonves so long to get involved? If he really wants Sheen back and Lorre to work with him again, wouldn't it have been a better idea to intervene before bridges were torched?

Or is this really nothing but an extended publicity stunt?

Just wonderin'.

This. Completely this. I understand that Charlie might be having issues with drugs, dependency, midlife crisis, and maybe even an all out melt-down, but as days turn into weeks of this on-screen tragedy, I am more and more convinced that Charlie KNOWS what he's doing. He's selling us all on crazy to boost his popularity. See the Funny or Die video Winning Recipes, and note that it's Charlie Sheen starring in it. It paints him out to be an absolute lunatic, yet he signed on for it.

I'm not surprised... Maybe Charlie is crazy like a Fox. It's the rule of the 3 P's: Porn, Party, Pontificate!

Apparently the "Duh.... Winning" philosophy really does work...

Rule #1 Live like a Rock Star from Mars. Who knew?? ;)
