CBS CLUSTER

I think I have all the pieces of the puzzle now. :-X
* Live 105.3 stays as is
* Jack is going to HD-2
* MOViN is going over to the Carpenter studios as soon as the new board is installed
* The Oasis is returning and will take MOViN's current studio
Question is... will MOViN be MOViN down the dial to 100.3 or will we have Smooth Jazz 100.3???

* Jack is going to HD-2

Do they have to pay a yearly rights fee for the Jack format? Can't imagine paying a cent for HD-2 programming.

I've heard some changes are happening at Fitzhugh up on the 12TH FLOOR!!! I heard KLUV play a Maroon 5 song at 3:45am on Thursday overnight. I think they are setting the processing for their new CHR on 98.7!! KLUV will go to 107.5 and Movin goes to 100.3!! Also... I'm not hearing John Summers today. I think that they are bringing back Chuck Brinkman and realizing the ERROR OF THEIR WAYS!! Chuck hasnt been on KAAM for a few days!! MARK MY WORDS: 107.5 KLUV is coming... and they are going to start playing the 50's and 60's again!!

Take a look for yourselves:

Why in G*d's name would they take KLUV, (who has had recent ratings success) and move them to a FAR inferior signal? Why would they take movin (who has yet to build an audience ) and put them on a huge stick? That makes absolutely no sense. I think you are taking flukes and trying to stir a pot up that is not even on the stove.

Russ was quizzing Gavin yesterday about why a new digital board was going in the Jack studios when that station could be run off a computer in a closet. Gavin said they might be changing formats next door. Since I can't see a smooth jazz station sharing space with Live 105.3 - it only makes sense to put MOViN over there where Wild/Hot 100 was and let the Oasis have their old digs back alongside KLUV, KVIL & KRLD. I also heard Russ trying to "leak" the names of three new guys Gavin has hired but Gavin told him not to because only two out of the three had signed. Could this be the end of P&K?

Jeff,
You only wish it was smooth jazz. You have to remember todays radio = $$ and smooth jazz, even done correctly does not put you in to the $$ demos. It still skews older. IF any format change occurs look for it to be something that leans younger. Maybe a rock station in where Jack was? or Top 40 (yes again...) to try and take some numbers away from KHKS and bump everyone else up 12+. Who knows... but I will almost promise no smooth jazz.

Chuck Brinkman was on the air at KAAM on Wednesday...i heard him...this is a prime example of people who post here with absolutely NO knowledge of which they speak!

Chill out. The guy didn't hear Brinkman on the air. Big deal.

Before KEGL switched formats I caught the smooth voice of Jim Conlee one night on a couple of VT'ed breaks. Jim was in San Antonio, but the VT's I heard on "Sunny 97.1" were for a station in Phoenix. Now how could that happen? The same way one (and only one) song out of a thousand in a given week was out of format. It was a glitch, a computer airing the wrong voice tracks with a little human error assistance. (Considering how many stations are running on auto-pilot I'm surprised we don't hear a lot more train wrecks than we do.) Airing one (and only one) song to tweak the processing? I don't think so.

jeff,

they were talking about bands for live 7

My bad... I was working and it was on in the background - couldn't quite keep up with subject. I usually just figure it is chaw, band talk or car alarms. ;D Oh well, you know how I loves me some good old fashioned rumors.

First off Brinkman stays at KAAM and goes to midays trading with Jack Davis. Movin will probably go and give it a small viking funeral ,it was lousy. Jack bills well, so I doubt it will go BUT it may have some announcers added, we'll see. KLUV is comfortable, no changes, etc. Remember we are talking CBS here, desperate for success and rudderless. They have kept Gavin on the payroll and hes another who needs to be shelved ,as wel las the asst pd at KVIL.

How can you allow yourself to be degraded on 105.3 and expect anyone to look up to you at a serious news/talk station (1080). YOU CAN'T!

MAROON 5 ON KLUV?

Maybe Bob Gomez (or whoever is doing overnights now) thought he was punching up the Jackson 5. Or the Dave Clark 5. Or "Take 5" by Dave Brubeck. Or the theme from "Hawaii 5-0" by the Ventures. Or "You Were on My Mind" by the We 5. Or "5:00 World" by the Vogues. Or "Signs" by the 5 Man Electrical Band. Or "Western Union" by the 5 Americans. Or "In the Still of the Night" by the 5 Satins. Or, most likely, he was looking for "O-o-h Child (Things are Gonna get Easier)" by the 5 Stairsteps.

Of course, this assumes that the entire 300-song library of all the CBS stations in the cluster are all dumped into one big AudioVault.

Or, perhaps with all the recent hoopla over KLUV now playing songs from 1985, management thought extending the range to 2005 could only help things get better.

I thought KJKK isn't suppose to have DJ's. They're hiring for jocks. Somthing's up.
