I was flipping through the channels this afternoon and was a bit confused. At 2:30, WNAC Fox Providence started airing a CBS Sports College Football game Arkansas vs LSU. At first I figured they must have another game on WPRI CBS. But I put WPRI on and found the local restaurant infomercial TV Maître d'. Why would they interrupt the normal syndicated programming on FOX WNAC to show a CBS Sports game when they were just showing an infomercial on CBS WPRI? And why is WPRI showing extended blocks of informercials during a weekday? Cost of fuel for Chopper 12/8 getting too high? I thought I was watching WPXQ!

CBS College Football on WNAC??

The network was not providing any programming for their air 2:30pm-4pm, so paid spots were used as fill. I would assume this was done so that their 5pm newscast could air.
Same thing here in Connecticut. The game is airing on LIN TV's MY TV 9 WCTX/59 instead of Merdieth's WFSB/3. On Channel 3The episode of Dr. Phil that was pre-empted by The Parade on the Network aired at 3PM. Oprah aired at 4 as normal. Eyewitness News aired as normal 5PM-630PM. With no CBS News with Katie Couric at 630 due to the football game WFSB ran COPS. The game is currently into Triple Overtime over on MY TV 9.
My question is how much money is Merideth paying LIN-TV to air the game on WCTX? Although not entirely unheard of in this day and age, it's quite unusual for a non-sister station to be airing programming of a different network.
Even more unusual is WCTX is sister station to WTNH the ABC station for the market, which is airing its own Football game from ABC. Usually the 2 sister stations don't compete against one another.
Also a big "oops". WCTX is not covering up the promos for CBS Programming. I just saw a commercial for "How I met Your Mother."

It's just a matter of time before WBZ-TV shoves the post-Thanksgiving SEC game off to TV 38 because, as we all know, Southern mentality doesn't matter to us here in the North.... unless, of course, we gain superiority and start forcing Northern laws (gay marriage, no spanking, coddling of criminals, et al) down their Southern throats! ;D
