CBS, Cookie Jar renew deal

The question now is, will they do anything to freshen up their Saturday morning schedule? Much of what's on there now were repeats since the last season -- at least one of them, "Cake", has been in rerun hell since its only season ended in 2006.

I would hope so. Perhaps with the DiC/Cookie Jar merger, they will use some of the other library programming they hold.

What about 2/17/2009?

According to wikipedia.org, the DIC Kids' Network would return February 17th. Any new word on that deal, or has that been pushed back to June 12th?

The Wikipedia article is flat-out wrong. The link provided doesn't support the article's statement that the network would be relaunching on 2/17. The service is being advertised on a cash basis to any station that wants it to fill out their E/I requirements.

Uggh, I'll correct that right away, thanks for the heads up. I linked to the fact they were offering the programming to subchannels when I found the link in May, but I knew they weren't going to offer it as an entire channel. I mean how can you rerun Trollz and the lamer non-Disney Sabrina cartoon twelve times a day (since that seems to be all DiC puts out there, along with Sherlock Holmes, Madeline and Horseland.

If only Don Adams were alive I'd support an Inspector Gadget, revival, but everything Gadget since the horrible last season of the original show has been unwatchable to me.

If they did that, they would have to "tame" it to meet E/I guidelines.

Staying on topic, whatever happened to the days of Bill Nye, The Science Guy and Beakman's World, when educational programs were entertaining as well? I know they were more expensive to produce than today's syndicated E/I product, but if I were in charge of programming of a TV station that relies on syndication for E/I, I would be happy to buy fresh versions of those programs instead of producers that focus on quantity over quality (I'm looking at you, "The Television Syndication Company, Inc."), "Degrassi," or "Saved By The Bell." But, stations go cheap for a reason - they know that E/I is unprofitable.
