CBS DROPS FREE FM IN NEW YORK---FLIPPING TO ROCK

All Access is reporting that CBS has pulled the plug on "Free Fm" in NYC and is stunting before an expected return to their "K-Rock" format.

Let's hope the rest will fall like dominoes, trickling QUICKLY towards Texas.

I'll say it again...KLLI could be a decent modern rocker, without losing the morning or afternoon shows...each would have to insert some music into their shows, however, but both hosts were jocks long before they were talkers, so it shouldn't be much of an imposition...and the music would fit both shows. And in the long run, I think Jagger and Martin would be happier dealing with it on those terms, instead of being completely replaced by a hard drive.

Is Free-FM in NYC the former 92-3 K-Rock (WXRK,) Howard's former flagship?

The NY Free FM had a winter book of 1.3 compared with 1.9 for KLLI. If KLLI would flip to modern rock and keep the morning shows there would be no need for "best of" or BDH.

Yup.

CBS is slowly but surely realizing their "Free concepts" and "Movin" are pitiful. I wouldn't be surprised by mid summer if both these alleged formats are completely gone everywhere. KLLI should go back to when "Doc" programmed the music. It was classic rock, and it sounded far better than what the Bone and KZPS had. I agree with Mike the morning and afternoon drives stay the same ,everything else ..ditch it.
