CBS Evening Blues: Couric a flop? Moving to new role?

Jay Leno out in '09? Yah, he said that, but I wonder if he really meant it. If his ratings stay decent, he will go on beyond '09 IMHO.
Wrong. NBC announced almost a year ago that Leno IS done in 2009 and Conan moves into the hosting spot for "The Tonight Show."

Do you believe everything you hear? Do you think networks don't ever change their minds? If ratings are good in '08, would they still make this change? BTW, the Conan replaces Leno story is from '04, not almost a year ago. Why NBC made that announcement five years out is mystifying to me.

But this thread is about Couric. The stories coming out today seem to be gaining momentum. I can't help but believe her time on the Evening News is slipping away.

First off, Katie Couric is not a newscaster. I have seen local women newscasters do a lot better than that. Check out San Antonio. We have Leslie Mouton, Ursela Pari, and Deborah Knapp plus a bunch of women newscasters on FOX 29 that run rings around Katie Couric. This is not really a knock about women as some posters on here put it, but Katie Couric is about like Barbara Walters in that she is mostly an entertainment news person not a person who gives breaking news. The closest that we have come to a first rate woman newscaster was Jessica Savitch. Not the first time that a network woman newscaster has failed (Barbara Walters, Connie Chung, soon Katie Couric), certainly it won't be the last.

That's the difference between you and I. I am a professional in this industry. You are not.

So what? Next time, do research BEFORE. ::)

But this thread is about Couric.
Good observation. I was simply correcting you on a previous statement.

If CBS wants to regain any credibility they should replace Katie with Ann Coulter.
Can't. Ann must run for vice-president on the Republican ticket. But she would bring truth and honesty back to CBS News which they so dearly need.

I love Ann Coulter. She's the best.

Oh, because I don't work in network TV, my opinion doesn't count? I work in radio as a professional, just for the record.

And the same can't be said about your post? ::)

Thank you for your correction. It was based on opinion, but if you feel you need to correct that, fine.
