CBS Evening News with Katie Couric

Only a week until Katie goes to the news desk. I'm sure the CBS Evening News' ratings for the first week will be high, mostly due to curiosity.

It will be interesting to see if she can keep the "curious audience".

I'm giving her a chance. I have a feeling she'll do well.

Katie is pretty much a known quantity. I'm more curious about the revamped format elements that will be put in place, and if they'll resonate with television audiences in 2006 and beyond.

I think she needed a change. She has been on our TV screens for many years now in the early AM, and I think she's exhausted and wants to try a different edge. The evening news guarantees her more rest and hopefully a new respect.

Does anyone know if Bob Schieffer will continue to appear on the newscasts with his own stories? I heard he will still be a part of the show in some capacity, just not sure how much.

I hope so. It's a shame they didn't have him replace Rather years ago.

One of the entertainment wires or other source is circulating a story that says Couric's CBS publicity photos have been doctored to rid her of 20 or so pounds.

Apparently people seeing the pictures were "worried" over her sudden weight loss, but they were told the pounds were dropped in the digital retouching process and not actually from her frame.

Let the redux begin.

Bob Scheiffer will have a weekly commentary on Wednesday nights and will be an advisor to the show, accorduing to a story in USA Today yesterday.
