CBS EXITS

Steve Dahl has exited JACK FM (WJMK/Chicago). Dahl had joined JACK in mornings in November 2007 when the company changed its FM talk where Dahl had hosted afternoons.

Dahl's salary was estimated at over $1 million per year.

This is the second major on air talent cut at CBS/Chicago in recent days. CHR/top 40 WBBM morning team Eddie and Jobo were cut a few days ago.

Will the CBS axe fall in Dallas?

Dahl was the reason P&K ended up in Dallas, so I dont feel sorry for the guy. For CBS Dallas, the cuts will probably happen after the new year. My guess will be the obvious (KLLI), as they are the ones living highest off the hog at present.

Yeah, nothing like a lawsuit to get your own show......

Look for CBS among others over the next three years to go to all vt'ing except morning drive. Sad very sad. Greed and stupidity has ruined a whole industry just like the auto business except radio won't get a bailout.

I think they'll keep jocks, but they'll be switching formats at alot of their stations. Im hoping local managment gets bounced and replaced with folks who know what their doing

They already adjusted staff at several Dallas stations a few weeks ago.

Word from a retiring guy with no corporate ass to kiss nor job loss to fear:
Apparently there is no one left at CBS radio who has the slightest idea of what they
are doing. Probably lost to cost cuts generations ago.

That they evidence no knowledge or skills regarding radio entertainment is
given, we can hear that and measure it in the latest ratings. But these guys
aren't even any good at business
.

They cut the wrong people for the wrong reasons. They sell the wrong
properties just to look good (or survive) one more shareholders gathering.
They operate in clusters so, rather than losing one ship, the entire fleet
can go down.

Logic does no good: Just try to be your best on the air, and then
incorporate the phrases "stocks go up," and, "shareholders approve" into
your at-work conversations
as much as possible. See if that does anything...

OK prediction time.

KLLI flips formats to sports. Russ will be the lone survivor, but he'll be forced to do AM drive. That in turn will make him quit, since he doesn't want to do mornings.

Is that too logical? ;)

KLLI will merge with KRLD and Live 1080 will be born...

5a - 10:30a The Jagger Show Mornig News with Jagger, Mike Rogers, Carla Marion and Brad Barton (replacing Mondo, Dean & Jasmine)

10:30a - 3p will be Ernie & Jay & Sybil

3p - 7p is the retooled Russ Martin Show/Afternoon News with Mark Watkins and Carla Marion replacing JD and Dan

105.3 will become radio105-3 playing true alternative rock and the Edge (unable to compete) will flip to big band music. ;D
