cbs flip of

yeah i heard that too. i love times like these. it's real fun.

so as of 5:15pm eastern Friday...the "placeholder" website has photos of
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. are they changing photos on a regular basis...
or is this just to mess with K92?

I HIGHLY DOUBT COUNTRY. WE HAVE AT LEAST 3 COUNTRY STATIONS THAT COVER ORLANDO.

Ok, even though it said "ya'all come back now, ya hear" on there site, i still don't think country is coming on 105.9 i think it's part of the stunt. but it makes it more interesting.

All we need is yet another country station! Why would they be playing the History of Rock and Roll if they were going country? BTW, I wonder if they are playing the 1977 or 1981 version of The History of RNR.

They're just reelin' in the public to tune in Monday for this format change. Right now, they're playing "The History of R&R" and a lot of 60's tunes. I personally think they're going to stick with the Classic Hits theme. That's what everyone's saying where I work. ;)

CBS (Infinity) instructed some employees to report to work wearing cowboy hats after Power 1059's demise in 2000. Obviously this was an attempt to make it look like they would flip to country.

I wonder if this is an homage to that event.

What I find interesting is that the original programming on the 105.9 frequency was country on then WDLF-FM, then continued with country as WELE-FM. We have the entire history of the frequency on www.cflradio.net. I believe they are getting such reaction to the stunting they are just messing with all of us.

Bob

Nah, that would be a real stretch to compare to that. I think they're just trying to get all the PD's thinking through the weekend whether it'll be Classic Hits, or some other format. Once again, I think it'll be Classic Hits. Any listener that I spoke to in the Orlando market have ALWAYS brought up the fact that they miss the Oldies format. In fact, they're STILL bitter about the previous Oldies station 100.3 going "Rumba!"

...of course, the PD's are smarter than that to be skewed into thinking it's something OTHER than Classic Hits.

i'm with bob on this. i think classic hits is defanatly in the 105.9 future. that country thing is just a bit i bet you to make people freak. We have 92.3, 93.1 from daytona, 93.7 out of ocala, and 97.5 and there is 102.7 in brevard. so country is covered well in orlando. and no classic hits really.
well, wmmo has classic hits but modern stuff mixed in. so i think wocl will be devoted to classic hits.

that's a good question. someone had mensioned sunny but i kinda doubt that. i'm not real sure on the station name. we'll find out soon enough. so, wonder what's gonna happen to all the orock staff? like i said, it's getting more and more interesting by the hour. i think on monday all our questions will be answered.

Sunny1059.com currently redirects to a site that has previously been seen prior to the relaunching of other CBS websites.

It's going live soon.

Radio and Records is reporting that they spoke with former morning host Drew Garabo, who said the entire on-air staff is out, including morning co-host Sexy Savannah, midday host Carter, afternoon host Scott Mangan, and night personality Mel Taylor.
No word yet on the status of PD Bobby Smith, but R&R has placed calls to the station.

Sunny...Sunny...Sunny...Sunny...Sunny...Sunny...Sunny...

bank on it...

I'm predicting Oldies/Classic Hits. They wouldn't tease us with all these great & goodtime Oldies if they intend to flip to something else. I see a mirror image of WCBS 101.1 in NYC coming. I think Big 810AM is in Big trouble. (Sorry for the pun.)

Why does management have to keep everything on the deelow before they officially axe everyone? I feel bad for the O-Rock staff & the way radio is run today.

Being a recent grad of CSB, I so wanted to break into commercial radio at some point this year, but I think I'll enjoy my time as a volunteer for a College station & a Mixer for an EDM mixshow now.
