Bwa ha ha ha.8)
I bet this time they toss in Xmas tunes.
But of course I am delighted they are not 24/7 Xmas music. Hooray!
scooty430 said:By old geezer songs, do you mean...
"Ain't That A Shame" by Fats Domino, from 1955?
"Barbara Ann" by the Regents, from 1961?
"Back in the USA" by Chuck Berry, from 1959?
"Ballad of the Green Beret" by Sgt. Whoever It Was, from 1960-somethin'?
well, they played all of those. 8)

That's a mistake. They will be finding as they continue to do this kind of thing that the old songs will start to kill the under 55 demo.
The middle two I have never even heard. The 4th is a novelty song and a radio purgative. And you have to be well innto your 60's to relate to Fats Domino.

scooty430 said:Green Beret is a terrible song. But to hear it every once in a while is preferable to being bored out of your gourd with a millionth airing of Brown Eyed Girl. For me, it reminds me of the great skit William Shatner did on SNL making fun of Oliver North, way back in 1986. They used that song, which at the time I'd never heard of, being too young!

It seems that for whatever reason, discussion about CBS-FM's A-Z countdown on his board is a big no-no. How else would one explain the fact that posts about it have all quickly disappeared (and have not even been replaced by any other discussion about the countdown)?
In the meantime, though, the CBS-FM Christmas music thread is still ho-ho-hoooing along...as well as plenty of discussion on non-NY radio topics.

I don't mean to seem like an ass by replying to myself, but I find it mind-boggling that the "other" board has stifled any conversation about the A-Z countdown. Not one post...they've all been removed. I wonder why that isn't "approved" but endless posts about the possibility of Christmas music on CBS-FM are fair game.
neo11 said:LOL, what a lame response. In the post I made on the subject, I discussed whether or not it would be a wise programming move for the station, whether it would be different from the July countdown, etc. I guess that wasn't "radio related" enough for the dentist. Overdose on the laughing gas, perhaps?
