CBS-FM Airing Giants Preseason Games, Too!

Just heard a promo this morning from Bob Papa informing listeners to tune into the Giants preseason game with the Panthers this Monday night on CBS-FM. Okay, regular season games on the weekend is one thing, but now we're flirting with virtually meaningless games - and during the week, no less. Will that hurt CBS-FM?

they think it will help them. I am upset, The music is great and it should stay music and air the Giants on another station. :mad:

Nick, yes the Mets are playing at 7:00 PM while the Yankees are on the west coast being at 10 PM. Apparently the Mets have preference at WFAN when there is a conflict. I think the world will survive if WCBS-FM plays sports for 4 hours. We survived for 2 years when it was hijacked, so we can do something else during the Giant games.

The Mets or the Giants were gonna be bounced off WFAN No matter what to another station which was most likely in the CBS Cluster in NYC, and i dont think they want to interupt the Kiddie music on NOW 92.3. and i think late in the season the Mets get Preference on WFAN, and i think Yankees have exclusive to WCBS-AM. even if CBS wanted to use WCBS-AM as Overflow

Giants football on CBS-FM. That must be a good idea. I hope CBS-FM will do a lot better for Giants to tune in during the regular season, but it's not! I guess it will belong on WFAN. Look what happened in the Hudson Valley area such as "The Wolf", they still playing country music along with the Yankees and the Jets games on one station on FM. I guess Yankees baseball would sound good on FM when it is on "The Wolf" and on CBS-FM HD3 channel, both of these sounded the same.

But Giants on CBS-FM? Come on! It should not be on an oldies station.

They should have bumped it off NOW and driven some much needed traffic to 92.3. Since it's a meaningless preseason game, have Chunky do the play by play.

Well do not worry this upcoming season because guess what The Giants overflow station is 92.3 NowFM again and they will carry all 4 Giants preseason games and 1 or 2 of there regular season games
i know alot about radio too WCBSFM got alot of there listeners upset last season ;)

I still don't understand how the same station can air Mets and Giants games. There are very, very few Mets/Giants fans out there. I can sorta understand Yankee/Jets but my dad started watching sports in 1969 when the Mets/Jets were on top and he stuck with them instead of the arrogant Yanks/G-men.

GREAT way to lose ratings;
and when they lose ratings because of giants games, they'll blame it on too many 60s records;
bRING BACK THE MARVELETTES!

You have a point there, because as soon as the games are over, they'll keep playing the same burned-out '80s records that get played on more stations in the tri-state area than can be counted on one hand, all the while people will still refer to them as an "oldies" station. The sad state of radio in 2010...

I wouldn't think CBS would want to air the Giants on Now FM - I know last year, with Now in its infancy, they didn't want to mess with whatever cume they've built. Plus, I would think the demos that would listen to Giants games would not be the same demo to listen to Now FM, so if true, I think it's a bad fit.

And by the way, Devin... What do you mean by "the Giants overflow station is 92.3 NowFM again"? Unless you're referring to the old "Free-FM" days.

I'd think the demographic that likes 92.3 Now is similar to the demographic that likes football. But if it's preseason games, it's a curse for any station. Might as well carry the preseason games on an HD2.

I still would love to hear Chunky do play-by-play of Giants preseason games.

Tell that to the thousands of ticket holders who are left with no choice but to take preseason game tickets as part of their deal. Of course, much like people have the choice to buy Giants season tickets, so, too, do they have the choice to buy an HD Radio.

When the Giants are on WCBS-FM, there will be the same amount of 50s and 60s songs played in relation to the normal programming.

But as long as we have Ricky The K's solid gold time machine everything will be OK! Thought I would do the promo for you Truth so it doesn't look so obvious.

I don't believe that myth. Most of the Mets fans I know, myself included, root for the football Giants.

I'm also a Mets fan and a football Giants fan. Yankees/Giants, Mets/Jets is not automatic! Everyone's got a free choice! I know of Yankees/Jets fans as well! :)

thats true im a redsox,and mets fan having spent sometime in the tristate area when i was a child its freedom of choice!!
