CBS-FM Artists A to Z Countdown

in 5 years when it'll be time to jettison all the 60s.

Not a chance! Probably lower charting obscure hits, but not the bigger hits. They'll be playing staple 60's in 2020. To important of an era to be ignored. Such wonderful music from that era too.

There's a HUGE difference in hearing oldies today, then hearing oldies back in the 60's and 70's, when the selections would have been some 30's, 40's and early 50's music, all pre-rock.

Rock and Roll has a much wider appeal than pre-rock and roll, as oldies.

exactly; while the 50s doo wop does not work anymore, the 60s sound and style carries over right into contemporary pop...there is a time line that connects, and the radio rule book has changed and needs to change..

And even some 1950's are still heard on CBS-FM, mainly Hall of Fame specials, but at least they still air some and guess what........it's 2010, almost 2011. :)

the R.E.M. track was a huge NY hit, via 77WABC's heir, Z100...thereby, it's a Top 40 hit that should eventually be on CBS FM...
for that matter, so too should "Come On Feel The Noize" by Quiet Riot(since the original 1972 Slade record was ignored or worse, boycotted in USA during the great glam rock shut out of 1972 by Rick Sklar & Co.)

You're right! "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M was indeed a huge hit in New York City when it was heard on "Z-100" back in 1990. I hope that CBS-FM will someday be playing an R.E.M. song along with a few 90's hits.
