CBS-FM.com With Live Jocks Today, Wed. 7/11/07

Sounding very good with live "masked" jocks today! God what a relief! Liveable, Likeable, Friendly, and missed!

Agreed. Very much what we've missed.

listening right now, same Jack gunk.....
flock of seagulls, bryan(snore) adams, etc
Then you must be LISTENING to JACK. WCBS-FM HD-2 and wcbsfm.com have DJ's today with OLDIES. No Bryan Adams or Flock of Seagulls. CBS-FM goes back TOMORROW at 1:01 PM. Just to clear up any confusion...

I'm in Michigan, and I would like to listen tomorrow, but trying not to sound too stupid I am not sure which stream to listen to at 1:01.
I assume cbsfm.com

I have been listening to it, and although I really like 50-60's music I think it's very listenable.

I agree, they'll probably switch the links on cbsfm.com and ilikejack.com to reflect the new (old) streams.

For the last three hours I've heard, if this is what the "new" CBS-FM will be ... we're in for a long-lost and needed treat.

Besides needing a pop filter, it sounds great! Amazing what songs you haven't heard on the radio in a long time sound like once more.

The "masked" jocks ... "Mo' Music", "Mike Volume" and "Jr. Bunssen the Bunssen Burner" sound like they can't wait to get started tomorrow.

Oh my..."Georgy Girl" by The Seekers.

Hope the 18-34s like the HD2 version of "Jack" because they certainly won't "get" the "new" CBS-FM ... but it sure sounds cool this way.

We'll see in 25 hours...

Best wishes to NY's "Greatest Hits" station from a long time fan!

I have yet to hear any Marvelettes; Don't Mess With Bill, My Baby Must Be a Magician, When You're Young And In Love, etc

Well, "Don't Miss With Bill" is a staple 60's record. (But, I haven't seen a recent music test on it.) The others you mentioned are far more tertiary, even perhaps, lunar.

In layman's terms, please.

They're third-string records nowadays, a bit more obscure other than to the true oldies music fans.

Sorry. Looks like I'm not a true music fan.

But I'm a really good dancer. And lots of fun at parties.

Though a previous poster described it pretty well...

No problem. Let me spell it out in layman's terms.

A "Staple" record: often heard in the original oldies format...a song that has tested well in most situations.
(Think: "Brown Eyed Girl")

A "Tertiary" record: One that may have been a hit when it first came out, but has not fared as well in terms
of recognizability and/or popularity over the years. It may test OK to play. But is not
what is considered a "power" record for the format. (In other words, kind of
recognizable, but not a "Good Vibrations".)

A "Lunar" record: Unless you are a hard-core record collector or oldies geek, you probably couldn't tell
someone the name of the song or artist. (Think: "A Letter To My Teenage Son by
Victor Lundberg" which, I know, peaked at #10.)

There's other radio terms, too...but this will give you some idea of what I'm talking about.

They DID play Dancin' in The Streets though during Moe's shift 2-3 PM !! ..right after "Moe" mentioned that there were people walking around outside wearing HTRJ shirts.

That's a Martha Reeves and the Vandellas hit.
