CBS-FM countin' down again

Yesterday afternoon around 3:45, I tune in 101.1 and hear "I Can See for Miles" by The Who. The song was in a Honda commercial last fall so CBS-FM must have added it to their library. On the fade out I hear the DJ with some hipper-than-thou B.S. Turns out CBS-FM was doing a British Invasion countdown.

That's the kind of stuff that branded CBS-FM (pre-Jack) as old.

And your point is?? That Who tune is definitely within the genre of the music and the british invasion time period that they play. And they didn't start playing it because of a friggin' honda commercial........of course it's old..classic hits??? hello???

I'll have what he's smokin' ???

.... and had them billing $30M+ per year before that idior Hollandar blew the station up. I'd say (and Arbitron will back me up on this) that CBS-FM is back on track.

To stay factual, this is a station that billed 42 million a few years before, and had lost nearly a third of its billings due to ageing demographics with it's 60's based format... in a market that was up, overall, about 15%. In other words, CBS-FM was in crisis. Today, with a classic hits format based in the 70's, we will see how well they can recover.

Today, CBS FM is about at the level of the two best books of the Jack episode, and is barely in the top 10 25-54. Time will tell if the format is more salable, and it may be a better PPM proposition. But as of today, it's not really any better than Jack.

This song is still played randomly on WBPM's "Classic Hits 92.9" which was the same song by the Who, "I Can See for Miles". That's the one station that plays.

Disney- enough already with WBPM.....it is in no way comparable to CBS-FM....besides the folks in NYC couldn't get it if they wanted to, and why would they want to with CBS-FM on???

Pass the friggin' advil please...
