CBS-FM Flips to Christmas

When I saw on the dentist's board, CBS-FM is going all Christmas competing with WLTW's "Lite-FM". Now we got two stations playing all-Christmas, that's strange. On the other hand, CBS-FM HD-2 is now playing oldies for the first time since the "Jack" experiment when it was on HD-2, now known as "101.1 HD-2". Is this true?

Yes it is true. CBS is playing Classic Hits on their HD channel. I think Adult Hits will be back on their HD 2 channel. Brian Thomas their PD said it's one of their highest rated internet stations.

why didn't fresh go all Christmas? this is stupid

Actually it's kinda smart. Fresh directly competes with Lite. For the Lite refugees who want their A/C non-Christmasized, they can go to an equivalent station and get what they want and maybe stick around after the holidays when Lite goes back to their regular thing. CBS would also like to have a Christmas bump, so the other somewhat logical place ("HD" doesn't count) would be CBS-FM. Yeah, it doesn't quite fit, but when you're doing cluster programming (thank you consolidation) it's not a bad idea overall.

I wish if CBS-FM can go back to its programming after the holidays, they should play "It's All Too Much" by the Beatles from the album "Yellow Submarine". I heard that song on WBPM's "Classic Hits 92.9" about two weeks ago, why don't we play that song on CBS-FM after Christmas? "It's All Too Much" is one of the songs that CBS-FM never plays from the "Yellow Submarine". CBS-FM's HD-2 channel plays 10,000 Maniacs "Like the Weather", Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog", Van Halen's "Panama", Steve Perry's "Foolish Heart", Poison "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and a few others that CBS-FM plays on HD-2 from the "Jack" days. I saw the playlist that are come up on WBPM's site. I hope that CBS-FM should adjust the music, why not drop all of this Motown and R&B/soul songs and put in some rock & pop songs like WBPM plays all the time. Forget it, it's still going to be on HD-2 after the holidays.

when was the last time you checked on HD-2 (also available on line at www.wcbsfm.com :))? 'cos i checked yesterday and they were playing "the greatest hits of the 60's, 70's, 80's" - i heard Dion.... :)) i had read somewhere on another Board that the pre-7-12-07 format on HD2 got "kicked to the curb", as it were...but me, it don't matter - i'm listening to and enjoying all the Christmas music on CBSFM... 8)

Turn off your mind! Relax, and float downstream! Why don't they play "Tomorrow Never Knows"? It's a great track from the Revolver Beatles LP. Or for that matter why not "He Said" She Said"?

nobody's dumping all that Motown....lol....especially with the 50th anniversary of Motown this year...play MORE MARVELETTES!

you tell 'em!! :) i have a feeling that with Motown and CBSFM that the BEST IS YET TO COME!! :) :)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

And they play "Brown Eyed Girl" why???

How many weeks did the album Revolver stay at number one? I like this attitude of as long as it's you that likes the album cut its ok to play. If not the rest of you lose. That's the PD's and MD"s way. Even Van Morrison hates "Brown Eyed Girl." I guess some people couldn't afford to buy the LP.

I hope that someday, CBS-FM will be simulcasting Newsradio 880 on 101.1 just like KIRO in Seattle at 710 which is now simulcast on 97.3.
