CBS-FM is Now Simulcasting Newsradio 880 on HD3

Out of all of the two stations, CBS-FM is now broadcasting in HD3 as WCBS-AM simulcast of Newsradio 880. You should read the article here.

I'm not really sure if this HD3 channel succeeds, maybe CBS-FM will swap its oldies station to carry a Newsradio 880 simulcast on HD1 and put oldies on an HD3 channel, just like WPLJ does with its "True Oldies Channel". I guess if there is a rumor, we shall see. I hope that someday, CBS-FM will be simulcasting Newsradio 880 on 101.1 just like KIRO in Seattle at 710 which is now simulcast on 97.3.

Any thoughts on this new station on 101.1 HD3.

It's a total waste. HD Radio isn't going to grow by offering content that is already found elsewhere on the dial.

Why oh why would you blow up a successful oldies format and put it on a HD subchannel. Oh wait, CBS already did this with Jack. :)

What's the big deal if NewsRadio is on AM anyway? The AM signal goes out for miles and pulls in #'s from the CT markets.
