CBS-FM Labor Day Lineup

You can always count on CBS-FM to have an all-star "B" Team lineup on a holiday. Today:
6-10 Sue O'Neal; 10-3 Zach Martin; 3-7 Pat St. John; 7-12 Big jay Sorensen.
The subs never miss a beat!!

They've all seemed to be pretty "A+" to me. When you are in the big leagues you don't skimp on quality, and you spare no expense, especially with the advertising they get. Even Dick Bartley got a turn in his time slot last night. I didn't stay up all night, but I cannot imagine, given that people work overnight shifts that there was anything too cheap or shabby there either.

Leave it to the aforementioned seasoned vets of radio in the original post to breathe some life into a hackneyed concept like "The Top 1,001 Countdown".

From what I heard on Sunday night/Monday morning, they were actually running completely jockless, which is a rarity for CBS-FM. Normally they have Joe Causi or Lenny Bloch voicetracking.

That aside, I agree that CBS-FM has an excellent array of part-timers.

I was asleep, so I am not worried about whether they voicetracked or automated or fed the bird.

New York is the city that doesn't sleep. Years ago Max Kinkel had a big following on WCBS-FM during his overnight shift.

I know I hardly heard him, I had to sleep, my hubby would get up for work 4am and he heard him, Don K Reed too. I got to meet both and both were very very nice!!! :) I told thm my hubby hears them LOL

@Silkie: Years and years ago, "The Thanksgiving Top 500 Countdown" was a very, very big deal. Of course, that was back when they actually did live overnight shifts.

Which leads me to...

@mjb1124: You mean to tell me that they actually continued the countdown during the overnight hours, rather than pause it right at 12 midnight and run automated music and voicetracked jocks until 6 AM? That, in and of itself, is awesome.

77WABC would countdown the year's top 100 hits from Christmas through New Year's Day.

Yes, they would continue it 24 hours a day.

It was the only reason I was happy Christmas was over. :)
