CBS-FM Line-Up

Mornings: Dan

Middays: Bob Shannon

Afternoons: Bill Lee

Nights: TBA

BossJock, When you say "Dan" will be doing mornings do you mean Dan Taylor who did mornings there for about a year and a half before Miky Dolenz? If so I think he will be a great fit on that station.

according to the Press Release Dan Taylor

Can't believe that they are getting Broadway Bill Lee

Well the Release says they will be Classic Hits and Not fully an Oldies format, So I guess they'll have some "younger" targeted DJs. I say that the music Will be right in the middle of both Formats Eventually Evolving in to More Classic hits and less oldies as time goes along.

Hopefully cousin Brucie will make a return if not now, later in time

Dan Taylor was at country WHN for many years - in fact the last jock when they signed off in 1987. He was also the voice of an in house drug store chain music service for a time - I believe it was Rite Aid - I remember hearing something like "this is Dan Taylor for Rite Aid Radio" in his familiar voice while shopping!

Since the people meter ratings of WOGL are influencing this comeback, would they consider a late Sunday night doo-wop show with Don K. Reed again. WOGL has had Harvey Holiday's Street Corner Sunday for 18 years, minus 6 months they took it off in a failed programming move. The show was once 5 hours live, now 3 hours voicetracked, but still a good doo-wop show!

According to this article from The Journal News CBS-FM will have an overnight dude by the name of Jeff Mazzei. He's quoted in the story.

CBS Radio should have relaunched the station with 101 hours commercial-free, then put in DJs on Monday the 23rd. By forcing DJs on the air from the start CBS Radio did a rush job and is gonna regret the results.

Dan Taylor mornings: Music-intensive or a Morning Zoo? If you've got lots of people on in the morning show you're got a Morning Zoo.

Bob Shannon middays: John R. Gambling and Rush Limbaugh need not worry. People tune in FM in middays for music, not for talky DJs.

Broadway Bill Lee afternoons: Sean Hannity need not worry. A big-voice PM drive jock would have made sense in the 70's but not today.

Joe Causi tonight: Disco show from KTU and the old Mix 102.7. Delilah need not worry.

Jeff Mazzei overnights: Voice-tracked unless AFTRA objects.

Oh, yeah, they have a golden opportunity to present their product with some of the best jocks in radio today, as well as more buzz than any format switch in recent memory in the #1 media market in the country, and they should throw that away with the trite "101 hours commercial-free music". Hey, they're "commercial-free", AND they have entertaining jocks who know how to present the music and keep the excitement level up. Somehow, I doubt that they're going to regret a thing.

See, even you'll have to tune in to find out.

I'll bet that Shannon gets much better female numbers than either of the above. And we know who spends the money.

As long as he doesn't put whiney trailer-trash with sob stories on the air, he's more entertaining than Delilah. And, he's likely to draw an audience that actually has money to spend.

What, nothing bad to say about somebody you've never heard?

Chucky, you sound like somebody who works for the competition as is getting nervous.

More like "Reasonable commentary"

Which the fanboys and groupies will never understand.

"101 hours commercial-free" ties in with the station's dial position. CBS-FM used to image around 101. Using a rounded-off dial position never hurt Hot 97 or Z100.

As for putting DJs on the air from day 1? K-Rock returned jockless except for Opie & Anthony. Fresh 102.7 signed on jockless. That's standard procedure in the industry these days.

"Standard Procedure"

Which is the best reason that the way CBS-FM returned is much more memorable and entertaining. They ain't puttin' on CHR or Hot/AC jukebox. They putting an entertaining, personality-oriented oldies station BACK on the air - where it belongs.

Your creativity is only exceeded by your level of understanding.
