I'll agree that CBS-FM does sound good, and as I've argued before, they're doing the right thing by updating the station's music and evolving with the times. There was certainly plenty of argument by some, especially on the other board, that CBS-FM should stick to the 1964-1979 era, and others who were whining about hearing 80s music on their beloved oldies station, but it seems like the approach CBS-FM has taken musically has paid off. And...it also seems that those A-Z countdowns, despite the gloom and doom some radio "insiders" predicted, have not hurt the station at all.
The station sounds much, much, much better and fresher than it did in the last few years before it was "jacked," when it went through such bland cookie-cutter programming phases as "Motown, Soul and Great Rock n' Roll." I guess it's not too surprising that some of the more fervent "oldies fanatics" have muted their criticisms of the station in recent months.
In the meantime, it's kind of ironic that the reviled Jack FM ultimately did better than CBS Radio's latest monumental flop, 92.3 Now.
