CBS FM STREAMING STINKS!

Note to CBS Radio:
Ok now look guys, if you are going to completely cut off the personalities as they are talking just to go to break, DON'T EVEN BOTHER STREAMING! I get that we can't get the local spots, but we SHOULD at least get the local talent.

As it is, I heard part of what Broadway was going to say about "David Beckam banning the spice girls fro-"

And that's about all I got before the stream spots took over...
C'mon guys, you can do better than that!

Having issues with our streaming. We know there's a problem..the bigger problem is......no one knows how to fix it!!!!!

To CBSNYER: I know its early, but do any of the music/playlist comments that appear here make it to any level of discussion at the station?

Dayam!! I heard that too and wondered what the heck?????

I am getting tired of all the PSAs ... too much already ... Sorry to complain because its a pretty good station

Suggestion (this could either be brilliant or really dumb): Get rid of the awful PSAs, record some oldies (or hip cover) instrumentals in various lengths (or even montages of long, well-known song intros). Cut over to them at the same time the jock cues his spots, then just fade them coming into your promo/jingle/song. I'd rather hear what the talent has to say and put up with instrumentals than hear those PSAs again, I'm about to go enlist in the Coast Guard. (I'd love to see the R/F on those schedules!) Then you don't have to worry about the breaks coming out exactly to the break time available. Does that make any sense? Would it work - at least until you can get it figured out? Other stations do... get it figured out that is. ???

NamJock thanks you stated what's on my mind also!! Yes some hip instrumental oldies (no library can be too big!!) is much better than to have to listen to a PSA about passing gas which I heard yesterday about 5 times in an hour.

I LOVE THAT PSA!! I laughed my ass off the first couple of times I heard it! Would love to get a copy of it!

I don't know what CBS-FM is using for MOHD/Live Assist, but there should be a system they can marry to cut the spots out. WABC has a sysem that works pretty well. I know the bigger names like BSI, Prophet, etc have add-ons to enable station to substitue content for web streams.

Bill - for cryin' out loud, go sell them some consulting or get one of your reps over there. I understand, they're not programming specifically to the stream, and it's unlikely i'll be a NY Aritron family here in S FL, but still it's really minor league.

Your stream keeps cutting out every few seconds on your HD2 stream (www.wcbsfm.com) The main air stream thankfully is fine.... (But i do wish i heard the local spots and not filler.)

It sounds like your HD2 stream is not synced properly and its causing the player to lose it (Which is why it drops out every now and then -- I dont listen to the HD2 stream to much anymore, but shortly after you changed from OLDIES on that stream it started)

Good luck my friend :) -- I hope you guys will eventually bring back the original golden oldies format you had!

If you check out 'CBS-FM's sister station KRTH/Los Angeles, "K-EARTH 101" ( http://kearth101.com ), they fill in the local commercial spots with regular playlist music and they time it all quite nicely. Once the local over-the-air commercial breaks are over, the Internet stream returns to the over-the-air programming. Maybe 'CBS-FM could use the same type of automation as K-EARTH. (BTW: both K-EARTH and 'CBS-FM are on 101.1!)

I've heard the K-Earth stream it's the way it should be done.

I would bet that CBS being as big of a radio group as they are that their engineering gurus know what they need to do. I'm really surprised that they hadn't done this earlier with Jack. Hell, I do onesy-twosy stations and I can get them to get a clue about their online content. All they have to do is figure out that they can sell the online stream for increased revenue and all that will be left is to figure the logistics of having the spots produced without union talent, which I think is the only reason they can't stream their spots.

SO I like gotta ask...what was the deal last Friday on the stream? I was taping the return of CBS and Broadway Bill. All of the sudden...the on air feed cuts off...and we're getting a raw feed (heard around the world) of Bill taking and editing phone calls! Hilarious!!!! The only thing I can figure is that you were feeding the program channel to the streaming and somehow the feed was switched over to the audition channel! Very entertaining though...

Soooo... when are some of you guys in NY gonna stream CBS FM's signal? If all of the ones complaining about it pull it off the air and stream it for the rest of us, whattatheygonnadoo?

Not to be repetative but if they do that I will really miss the PSA about passing gas. They would still have to play this once an hour as a "classic."
