CBS-FM terrible audio!

I don't know if it's still like this, but I was listening between 9am and 10am this morning and it sounded the worst I've heard. It was distorted and most unpleasant to listen to. I can't imagine the air talent having to listen to that for an entire shift.

The air talent is listening to a dummy chain, due to the delays from not only the digital processors but the HD diversity delay.

Off-air monitoring for any place running HD is a thing of the past.

Still sounds pretty muddy and awful although it's sounded like this for a while. Do you feel it got worse since last week? It is frustrating, since musically, the station sounds more focused than it has in a while. The addition of Charlie Burger and Al Bernstein have also led me to listen more. I enjoy them more than some of their weekday talent.

If only whoever is processing Fresh or even NOW could fix the audio. Seems like they backed off the reverb on 101.1 a bit too.

@LenoxAve: At least for my recollection it sounds as bad if not worse than last week. I do have to admit since the sub-par audio came on board I have listened less and less to CBS-FM and have actually listened to their AM or, depending where I am in Southern Connecticut I'll listen to WDRC-FM with my auto radio jumped to keep it in mono. It's grown quite painful to listen to 101.1 with their present audio.

@WNTIRadio: Not having engineered an HD station I keep forgetting the delay makes it impossible to monitor off-air audio anymore. The few stations I work with are still in gold ol' analog.

Good call! Definitely worse. Sad when the songs they play sound better on AC stations in the area than on the station that focuses on playing the classics!

It is pretty bad and hasn't been acceptable for quite some time. Ah, well. Someone apparently "knows" what they're doing... ::)
