CBS/Fox On Demand -- why doesn't Charter have it?

Anyone happen to know why Charter does not carry CBS or Fox On Demand? Not sure if it's nationwide or just in my area (Greenville-Spartanburg), but it's annoying when I go to visit others with cable systems such as Time-Warner and they have all four major networks On Demand.

I generally use my DVR for anything I want to watch, but if there's too many conflicts, etc., On Demand is obviously the next stop.

Just was wondering if it's a contract dispute or what. Our local GSP market just added a butt-load of HD channels so no complaints there.

DirecTV doesn't have CBS or Fox on Demand either (our local Time Warner system does, however, offer both), but they do carry on-demand content from ABC and NBC. In fact, I've noticed that DirecTV's on-demand content is rather limited compared to other TV service providers who carry the same channels.

Charter in Jackson, TN doesn't have CBS or Fox on demand either. I have two nieces that live in the Nashville area and have Comcast, and it's amazing how much more on demand choices they have, sometimes even on the same channels.

Sounds like CBS and Fox must charge more than NBC and ABC for On Demand rights.

What's funny is that with as many HD channels as Charter has added recently, there's quite a few of them I will never watch. I'd much rather have basic things like having all four major networks On Demand.

Oh well...

I'm sure this all has to do with contracts and how much the cable company is willing to spend on carriage fees. Might depend on how many people complain...
