CBS, NBC Will Get Extra NFL Playoff Game Under Expanded Format

https://www.thewrap.com/cbs-nbc-will-get-extra-nfl-playoff-game-under-expanded-format/

CBS and NBC will each get an extra NFL playoff game next season under the new expanded format, which will see 14 teams qualify for the postseason, up from the previous 12 teams.

For those counting, that means Fox and ESPN still have one apiece, with CBS and NBC now getting two during the playoffs’ opening weekend. Wild Card Weekend for the 2020 season will consist of three games on Saturday, January 9, and three games on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

CBS’ extra game will be the late-afternoon window on Sunday, Jan. 10 at 4:40 p.m. ET, with NBC’s extra game coming in primetime on that same day at 8:15 p.m. ET. NBC’s extra game will also be available on Peacock, the forthcoming streaming service from NBCUniversal that will be available nationwide this summer.

This is a proposed at this time for the 2020-2021 NFL Season.

ESPN crew on ABC then can have Scott Van Pelt show all week at Super Bowl live because Dan Patrick show is.

No. The broadcasters who pony up for the broadcast fees get to share in the Super Bowl rotation. Not ABC just because it happens to be the sister to ESPN. Not how the deal works.

However, ESPN has a deal to broadcast live from the NFL Experience during Super Bowl week. I don't know if its exclusive. Same with NFL Draft week events. The network that broadcasts the game has rights to broadcast from the venue on game day.

The NFL-AFL merger agreement dates to 1970, when the concept of pay TV was in its infancy. Does Major League Baseball have a similar agreement to keep its World Series on free OTA TV, and if so, how far back does it go?

With the new Playoff format they could have redun the Super Bowl contract and expand it to include ABC and Pro Bowl and Hall of Fame Game rotating between Networks meaning the Network showing the Super Bowl get to show the other 2 that year to. Also other Networks a set at Draft just for pre and post coverage.

Just so they can have theirs guys like in Hawaiian Shirts. Even don't see the other Networks live with their take on the Speechs at Hall of Fame.

Also TBS's MLB contract doesn't include CBS or TNT same with ESPN's ABC. Know NBC I would say MLB Network but MLB Network guys like Smoltz are used on Fox to and Fox Insiders on MLB Network.

Analysis of speeches (not "speechs")? Come on! Why would the NFL's other television partners want to air that? The Hall induction ceremonies and the sloppy first game of the preseason that accompanies it are fine just where they are. To think Fox would want to show them on its OTA channels every few years is ridiculous. And no matter how the NFL tries to make the Pro Bowl interesting, it remains the Don't Get Hurt Bowl and even then, the top stars will always find an excuse to skip it. You can put all the lipstick you want on that pig, but it's still just a pig.

Like maybe Jay Glazer,Terry Bradshaw and so on Fox after live from the Hall of Fame would giving their faughts same at like after first round of Draft foughts but with Fox Draft expert.

On Saturday ESPN first game then NFL Network or TNT second game and then ABC third Game because already have NBA Game of week and College Football Game Saturday nights and it would include team that would have got second bye from ABC. Same as regular season but NBC on Sunday night get other team that would got second bye from NFC.

Also Disney could do a Kids type Game for Teenagers and maybe Fox Megacast with local Radio Annoucers on it`s other channels.
