CBS News Beats ABC News

I'm with marko83 on this one. I think it's increasinglyobvious that somebody out there is comfortable withBob Schieffer. But it really doesn't matter; the onlyquestion that does matter is: How will Katie do againstBrian Williams? (Frankly, I hope CBS discovers it wasa mistake to hire her.)

Those results are nothing more than a fluke. Even if CBS does put Katie on the evening news, it would be stiff competition. Elizabeth Vargas is expecting on Lord knows when and Bob Woodruff is recuperating without a definite day of when he comes back (there's always ABC News back-up anchors), but that's beside the point. Bob Schieffer would've succeeded Cronkite sooner, way less of Dan Rather. He has always kept his cool and never loses steam. But the nightly news figures where CBS beats ABC is a fluke. Now putting Katie Couric in the drivers seat at CBS News, that's a whole 'nother topic.

Read the next-to-last sentence in my post. Schieffer is interim,Katie is permanent. The REAL test of CBS's trend upward,if any, will come when she takes over.
