CBS Offering Classic Shows Online

From "Broadcasting & Cable" 2/21/2008

Just one day after NBC announced its decision to stream classic shows on its Web sites, CBS announced that it will do the same, making a number of titles from its library available on CBS.com and across the CBS Audience Network.

The initial lineup will include ad-supported full episodes of Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, Macgyver, Hawaii Five-O and Melrose Place.

Yes it was. Also, "MacGyver" was aired by ABC. In the case of the latter, the show was produced with Paramount, which may explain how CBS gets involved.

Like with the previous day's article about NBC showing programs online (http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6533778.html), the list included Kojak, which wasn't originally shown on NBC, but was produced by Universal TV.

Melrose Place once had the Worldvision logo with Spelling Entertainment at the ending of each show. I believe that CBS Paramount bought those rights not only with that show but with Beverly Hills 90210, Little House on the Prairie and The Love Boat which were all syndicated by Worldvision. Also The Mod Squad and The Fugitive were also Worldvision owned and now the CBS Paramount logo appears on the DVD's and the end of each episode.

Republic once owned Bonanza and now CBS Paramount owns it. And Gunsmoke belongs to CBS Paramount
because it was once distributed by Viacom.

Correct! At the end of the late episodes of 7th Heaven on WB/CW, it used to say Spelling Television - A Paramount Company.
