CBS orders more Game Show pilots! This time, Pyramid.

I understand that "LMAD" is at par or slightly better ratings-wise than "Guiding Light" was, but because it costs so much less to produce, CBS is satisfied with it.

I'd actually like to see CBS go with two half hour game shows this time. Pyramid would be a good choice for one, but I'd also like to see them bring back something like Press Your Luck or Card Sharks.

GSN did a new version of Press Your Luck a few years ago. A new version of Card Sharks aired in syndication some years back and bombed.
GSN did Whammy from April 15, 2002 until July 31, 2003 as part of GSN's originals. The 2001 version of Card Sharks aired from September 17th, 2001 (yes 6 days after the 9/11 terror attacks in which the show did a full weeks of shows to honor Ameria's heroes.) until January 4, 2002. The gameplay is basically Street Smarts (Jaywalking) put in a 1 row set of cards, but the bonus round offers up to $50K+. Unfortunately, it was just as bad as hell.

I vote for a well-hosted Match Game '10 (wait, that doesn't sound right...). Maybe Match Game 2010! :D Right, because if Match Game had lasted, it would have had to switch to Match Game 2000 (or maybe they would have eventually dropped the year, like they did with the "New" in TPIR).

They did drop the year. IN 1980! LOL. The final three years that Gene Rayburn hosted the show they didn't use a year. Just bring it back as Match Game. No year needed. They can tack on "THE NEW" MATCH GAME" if it makes them feel better.

The year was dropped from Match Game 7X when it went into syndication after being cancelled by CBS. The newer versions that came later also didn't have a year. As much as I loved the 70's/early 80's version, I just don't think that a newer version could ever be as good.

You're probably right. But former MG panelist Betty White could do some guest appearances like she did on the "Game Show Marathon" series a couple of years ago. I'm sure she could make it interesting (maybe even let her host!) ;D

I'd like to see CBS bring back the five-minute "CBS Newsbreak with Douglas Edwards."
Me too. Very professional.
One slight problem - Douglas Edwards is DEAD.

Katie Couric would be a good candidate though (Especially since she's proven she can't cut the mustard on the evening news whereas Harry Smith has TIME & TIME AGAIN proven that HE CAN since he's anchored the evening news on the weekends).

Cheers :D

Because of the general lack of game shows in the past couple of decades, we don't have a lot of good game show hosts out there. Match Game 7X was one of those rare gems with chemistry that is hard to repeat (Gene Rayburn, Charles Nelson Reilly, Brett Somers, Richard Dawson (pre-FF), and rotating stars like Betty White, Fannie Flagg, etc.)

Re Match Game----

As popular as it was, I could never figure why the guest celebrities were so---shall we say----C-list. I assume that the budget wouldn't allow for it, like it did in Hollywood Squares.

One moment I remember:

The Super match was "Bess ______". The $100 response (3rd most common) was Armstrong. Some in the studio were like "Who is Bess Armstrong?" It was explained that she is an actress, but not too popular---to which Charles Nelson Reilly blurted, "You mean, the kind that could show up on THIS show?"
